1. Mixed together? I like liver in all forms - beef, chicken, goose, pork, fish
Love liver!

Yum yum yum!!

I also like horse. And whale.

And blue cheeses in all their forms - Roquefort, Stilton, Danish Blue, and so forth.

9. Yes!
I like the liver - but have not had fish liver, so won't comment on that.

Haven't had horse or whale, either.

Give me a hunk of Stilton and some crusty bread, and I am a happy man. Love the blues.

55. Definitely with you on liver and cheese.
I'm particularly fond of calves liver.

As for blue cheeses, I go weak at the knees even contemplating some of them. Over Christmas I had plenty of Stilton, Lanark Blue, and another blue cheese whose name I forget, made with unpasteurised milk too, absolutely gorgeous.

51. That's common in the south
at least it was in the 90's and parts of the midwest too I think.

I'm from the Boston area but I lived in Biloxi, MS for a few months while in the Air Force. I remember one of the first nights we were there and the first time we went out for pizza in the area. It was actually a sit down place where a waitress brings over your order.

She brought our large cheese pizza and asked, "Would you like some Ranch Dressing?" in a very casual manner. I looked up, "Oh we get a salad with this?"

She looked at me like I was crazy, "Uh, no."

"You mean you think we might want to put ranch dressing on the pizza?"

"Yes."

"No thanks," we said.

But the deal-breaker here for me is Buffalo wings with ranch instead of blue cheese.

And some restaurants try to pass off ranch dressing (with chunks of fake blue cheese) as blue cheese dressing!

Gack!

My mom's Ukrainian, so I grew up on the stuff. But it's an acquired taste, as is most Ukrainian/Eastern European foods, spare pierogis. Actually, the sauerkraut filled pierogis are an acquired taste, but I've grown to love them. Of course I've always loved the potato filled pierogis, and most people who try them do.

It was quite tasty.

If it's got beets in it, I'm in.

I also had homemade borscht in St. Petersburg when I spent a month there learning Russian. I loved most of the Russian dishes I had when I was there; it was the not-Russian foods that my host kept serving that were particularly unappealing: namely white bread and hot dogs. (She may have thought I'd love it because I was American, I dunno. She'd ask if I wanted sausages for dinner and then the "sausages" would come out and it would be boiled hot dogs. Blech.)

84. Oh yes, Borscht!
My mother was Russian, so Borscht was a winter staple when I was growing up. My sister and I still crave it in cold weather. Ours gets served with sour cream and black bread.

One thing to beware of with Borscht, though. If you eat too much of it, it turns your urine red. Last time I made a batch, I thought I had some goddawful disease until I remembered having downed three bowls of borscht the night before.

86. Bagels, lox, cream cheese and....
grape jelly. :)

You might think I'm crazy, but my mom turned me on to this. It's the contrasting flavors of salty and sweet.

88. Strong, stinky, burns-the-roof-of-your-mouth goat cheese
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 06:34 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
If anyone has ever had strong Corsican goat cheese, they know what I mean. I like to fry it up on the stove with figatelli (a type of spicy Corsican sausage). You can smell it for miles. Bread and wine complete the meal.

89. Black-eyed Peas w/ hot sauce
Actually, quite a few things with hot sauce.

Cottage cheese with salsa
Carrot, raisin & peanut salad
and I make a badass curry that stinks up the apartment, but it's SO GOOD.
