Its a shame how much it costs for someone to go and talk to a counselor or doctor. So many people have to go without care and medicine because of $$$$. I am tired of people looking down on those who have depression, anxiety and panic attacks as if we are cowards. Do they think we like being this way ? I sure as hell don't ... I am strong now mentally but I always help those around me who don't have anyone to talk to when times get rough. So many people would be able to live better lives if we were not treated like we are crazy and shoved to the side.

End of rant.

1. The mind lives where the body lives
Someday, maybe, mental illnesses will be looked at the same as physical illnesses.

The brain is a bodily organ, and can malfunction just like any other organ.

3. I could go on and on, but this is what I usually say to people....
who can't understand:

When someone gets diabetes, they are tired and urinate a lot. When someone has a heart attack, they get chest pains. When someone gets depression, they may feel tired, hopeless, and their sleep patterns may be disrupted. In each case, these are symptoms of an abnormality in the body that cannot be controlled without help.

And, my personal opinion....people who survive a bad depression are the toughest people alive.

Depression is not sadness. Depression is an illness.
