And I heard a rumor that some B-52 pilot flew his bomber under the Golden Gate Bridge!

18. That's quite the video.

Today, the crash is used in both military and civilian aviation environments as a training aid
in teaching crew resource management. The crash is also often used in safety training as an
example of the importance of enforcing compliance with safety regulations.

4. Ah, the Phantom!
State of the art aircraft in it's day!

Saved my brother's ass in Nam (69-70) on
several occasions. When his Huey went down,
USAF Phantoms gave air support to rescue
choppers. Y'all allowed him to come home
unscathed, physically anyway. Thanks.

BTW, we're only as old as we feel.

22. And let's not forget the A-1Es. The champions of Time On Station.

Never more relieved was I once when 5 had to make the emergency call as the replacement for Blue 32, when I found out that the inbound flight was NOT Fast Movers, but Skyraiders who were able to hit targets fifty, I repeat, five-zero meters out from our panels (white, I repeat, snow panels). Then come back for a gun run.

Enough of thesse memories for tonight.

Awesomely tough plane, very versatile, and it had a certain ugly grace to it.

19. The Phantom: The wings went up, the tail went down, and the nose was bent.
But when the Rhino driver hit the Loud Pedal, it was damn impressive.

Especially for someone who was deadheading in the back seat during a ferry flight. Especially when that someone (who wasn't me, REALLY), pissed himself in the piddle pack before we (I mean THAT guy) hit Angels 20 in altitude. Almost straight up all the while.
