what kind of expert could restore a cassette?
The tape itself is okay. The case is broken. It's very sentimental to me and I'd like to have the tape put into a new case so it can be played. How does one go about that? Who does that kind of task?

Thanks in advance.

1. it's really easy
just pay attention to the cassette you split in half so you can put the good tape inside and set it back together

2. I can do it??
But where can I get a new case? Or should I split one that I don't want any more?

6. split an old one
a very sharp knife along the seam of the top should do it

be careful, the knife tends to slip. just ease off the top half as it's on its side, and make note of how the tape is threaded through where the head pushes in and reads it.

3. Might also want to consider getting it converted to a CD or MP3 file as backup.

We just had that done with the only copy of some original music, on cassette tape. Lucky too, as the tape player ate the tape shortly thereafter. We had to do some researching online to find media companies who could do the conversion, as it takes special equipment. I would also advise shopping around because the prices they quoted varied dramatically.

Good luck.
