2. Technically
I can see why Chumbawamba is considered a one hit wonder, but people should really check out everything they did up until Tubthumping. They've been around since the mid 80's and have done some of the best agit-prop music this side of The Ex and Crass.Especially check out Pictures Of Starving Children Sell Records and Never Mind The Ballots.A great band, even though their last 2 dont move me much.

8. Wow!
I thought of 4 of those tunes before i read your post.

I can't believe you mentioned Dead Eye Dick! My three piece band does New Age Girl and Perfect Family. Those are good tunes, especially the latter. My four piece does DizNee Land, too. It works now that there's a president George again, too! People love that tune.

Our tastes must be quite similar, given that i thought of 4 of the same 7 tunes you did.

5. I have to disagree with Candlebox as a one-hit wonder.
They had three songs, albeit from the same album, that got decent radio airplay. One was "You" and I can't think of the other one right at this moment. Man, I loved that band; think I'll pop in the CD when I get home.

I guess that was the only Buckcherry song that got airplay, but they had a second excellent album out that I constantly played. (I also went to see them twice and I loved them.) But I suppose it's hard to get airplay/have a "hit" when you have songs like "Porno Star" with the lyrics "Don't you know we fuck for money. I'm a big-dicked motherfucking porno star."

"She missed the train to Mars......."

'Are Jimmy Ray...WHo wants to know!' ....I sure as hell don't want to

Primitive Radio Gods - Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Change In My Hand ....ah, I kept hearing that song on the radio a few months ago, but they never said the title/band...was driving me nuts

And don't forget:

Tripping Daisy: 'Got a girl'

12. I stopped listening to Top 40 radio...

...the year I graduated from high school (1984). As such, I'm unfamiliar with most of the songs you listed.

However, I recently asked a rock critic friend of mine to recommend some good '90s music to me. He came up with a list of about 100 songs, one of which was OMC's "How Bizarre." I must say, he was right! I found the song just quirky enough to delight the hell out of me.

So now, there's at least one top ten hit from the end of the millennium that I know and like! :-)
