1. Mom's bringing the dinner here.
She's making a fancy roast, squash (that I'll take over since she prefers how I make it), her amazing stuffing, and a salad. I'm making the rolls and the pie. Mmmm . . . apple/peach pie with dried cherries and a crumb topping. :)

3. Oh, it's really easy.
We canned up a lot of apple pie filling (Fujis and Winesaps, with a few Jonathans thrown in for good measure) this fall and a few batches of Michigan peaches.

One pint jar of apple filling, one drained jar of peaches, and throw in a handful of Michigan dried cherries (the best kind ;) ). Top with a crumb topping and bake for half an hour.

4. Wild turkey
and bouche de noel. I'm sure there are some other goodies to fill in the gaps. I'm not cookin', just eatin'. Bound to be some good wine as well.

6. I'm skipping the family consumption orgy this year
and am trying to figure out if I can get a delivery. There's a bottle of chardonnay here that will help me figure that out. :)

Seriously, I didn't plan for my dinner tonight and I don't care for Friskies Sliced with Beef in Gravy. That means a trip to the store up the street unless I can find someone who is open today.

7. With enough chardonnay, the Friskies might be just fine.

12. True! And, there's an Indian place up the street that makes
curry flavored pizza! I learned that the hard way. :hi:

13. I think I feel guilty, Breeze, because I've been cooking big meals
for 30 years, since I was 15.

:wow: Where does time GO?

I have two favorites. The first one was when my MIL taught me to make an apple pie HER WAY, and it worked great. Her DILs washed dishes for hours after dinner and we had great time. (Miss you, Lady.)

The other was the year I DID cook a goose and the family liked it, wierdo dark meat and all.

And, you say "smashed potatoes", too? That's how my oldest boy heard it. "Smashed potatoes and roast beast".

15. Sounds a lot like our dinner
Except we're doing plain stuffing. Also, we've got sweet potatoes and mac & cheese.

16. We thought about goose again
this year, but I won the argument. I don't like it all that much.
We're doing a "just us" Xmas, no mommie dearest.
Roast chicken, yam casserole, dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce (fresh, not shaped like the can kind), apple pie. I seem to have forgotten to put something green on the grocery list. It's almost four o'clock and the chicken hasn't gone in the oven yet, we didn't feel like eating earlier.

17. Buffet at my MIL's.
We had pulled pork from a great barbecue joint called the Dinosaur, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, shrimp, rye bread dip, and other snacky foods. Christmas cookies for dessert.

Baileys and coffee was the beverage of choice.

18. My daughter's taken over the Christmas duties.
We had turducken, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots. Peppermint chocolate cream pie for dessert. She did a great job. It was delicious.

19. The traditional Christmas lasagna, of course!
Okay, so it's not traditional. :-) I asked the kids what they wanted for a Christmas dinner this year because of I was tired of doing the usual turkey or ham. They chose lasagna. So lasagna it was with garlic bread and tossed salad.

Maybe if we do it again next Christmas it'll be tradition. In any case, it was a nice change of pace from the usual holiday fare.

Merry Christmas!

20. I spend Christmas cooking.
Breakfast was sweet rolls (orange glazed this year.) Followed by a fairly average brunch with eggs and ham, toasted apple pecan bread and a nice fresh fruit salad.

Dinner was a roasted chicken stuffed with garlic, sage and celery, brown rice/asiago cheese sausage dressing, baby green beans, and glazed sweet potatoes.

I did the annual baking marathon yesterday and made a metric ton of cookies along with all my breads. We are off to the in-laws tomorrow, and I'll get rid of the rest of the baked stuff there.

22. Sesame chicken and Hunan pork
It's a tradition that the "War on Christmas" troops eat Chinese food on December 25. If you're a dedicated cadre, you do it with chopsticks.
