January 10th is my Christmas.
We've been together for three Christmases, yet every year due to the circumstances of our lives- my being a nurse (working all or parts of the holiday) and children from our former marriages 200 miles apart, my husband and I have spent Christmas apart. I've been down today thinking how much it sucks, but considering that we're both Atheist/Secular Humanist spiritual Agnostics, it probably shouldn't matter. Christmas is for them, for everyone else in our lives we love, but my Christmas for him is January 10th because that is our day. Merry Christmas, PB. -Your wife. (I do miss you though.)

4. Wouldn't that be January 7?
I mentioned to the woman in the deli making my sandwich yesterday that Orthodox Christmas was early in January, because of the different calendars. She looked at me with astonishment. "Jews celebrate Christmas?"

"No, Orthodox Christians". She still thought I was making it up.

3. I just watched Before Sunset again
while wrapping.

Yes, I may be the only one who repeatedly watches those films, but they connect me to those perfect moments, those perfect days, and then it all makes sense again. We don't do this (the sap thing here) much, but I'm glad to know we've still "got it". ;)

5. In the spirit of the evening, I'm going to spoil the surprise.
I got you a comb for your beautiful long (with bangs!) hair.

Of course, I had to sell my watch to get it....

6. I'm from a family of atheists and agnostics
But we all get together anyway this time of year and enjoy each other's company and share our lack of faith. Everybody has the time off except for the poor souls who work at the c-store and the hospital. I understand that Christams is a stressful time of year for some people due to less than perfect family relations, but I will always look forward to this time of year because I get along with my family and look forward to seeing us all together.

But do it when you can. I think of peace when I think of the holidays, but if that's in your heart I don't think the calender matters.

It's my damned fault. And yes, he really was prancing around this morning actually proclaiming himself the Fantasy Football God. :o
