Downloading new Music - I feel so OLD...
My (younger) friend posted her favorite songs of 2007 on her MySpace blog.

I decided to download them and have a listen.

I've never heard of most of these bands.

It's true, rock & roll is for the kids...

2. Your friend has some good taste.
I don't know ALL of those, but a good number. Not my favorite stuff, but there's some good music there.

Sounds like the playlist of XM Channel 43 - XMU. It's one of the channels to which I listen frequently.

5. I know the Secret Handshake's mom.
She has been going through a very tough time, divorce, finding employment, but she is very happy about her son. He is a young guy, multi-instrumentalist, being run ragged by the demands of the music industry.

Trust me on this. I teach young people, and I try to keep up with the latest stuff. I've only heard of 11 of those bands/artists.

13. I like Travis and Interpol
The rest, take it or leave it.

I hear a lot of good stuff about Tegan and Sara, so I think I'll download a bunch and listen.

15. I particularly like Travis' cover of Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time."
No, I'm not kidding. They released an acoustic version as a B-side, and it's quite good. Turns out under all the glossy production and stupidity of Ms. Spears and her hangers-on, there's quite a good song there.

It's pretty good, but I like Fountain of Wayne's version better...

14. You're doing great - I recognized none of them
I thought I remembered one of them, but no, I remember Aqualung the album/song, not a group by that name.

Now I'll crawl back to the rock I've been living under.
