2. Wow. Hedwig changed my life

My wife and I LOVE Hedwig and our daughter knows many of the songs from the soundtrack

For me, the movie is all about identity. Those thrust upon you and those accepted eagerly; it is also about how our identities can adapt to our realities.

I never had gender identity or orientation issues, but I definitely had science thrust upon me in my youth when I was much more interested in fantasy, art and freedom. I had to reject many identities thrust at me about my 'future' and 'education'. Hedwig's journey to fame and closure inspired me to work harder at my own art.

Of course, the making of Hedwig is just as inspirational and I love John Cameron Mitchell for his story.
