I adore this song. It will always remind me of my brother.

My older brother died in 1989 from AIDS. When we were kids he always stood by me. I was his little brother. But in my mom's eyes he was the "good" kid. Because I was always getting into trouble.

Mike (most of the time) backed me up. I was the outspoken and LOUD mouth. We had so much fun. As we got older and got over our fighting .... he came out. When he came out he laid the groudwork for me as well. Mike put up with my mom's shit ..... and went along with the whole "oh god it's a sickness" crap (she's now WAY over that).

Mike always stood back and let me shine. I was taller than he was. Got the Italian looks. Nice bod and shit. But he was always my "Sonny" to my "Cher". Granted, he was crazy and funny. But he always said "God, Ronny is funny".

My biggest fan. But I don't think he ever knew what a fan I was of him as well.

I love you Mike. I miss you so much.

7. I think he knows what a fan of you were of him ...

I have my own beliefs that when our loved ones pass on, they can sense from our souls how feel about them. That's how it was when my cousin's mom passed away,for the longest time I felt her around us when she passed because it was SO HARD.We felt a lot of pain because we loved her SO MUCH. She died from injuries sustained in a car accident.When she was in the hospital there was nothing the doctor's could do but she hung on to life waiting on my little cousin to get there to tell her that "everything was going to be alright" and then she passed on.Even though it was hard,I took the comfort that she gave my cousin the comfort that everything was going to be alright. She was'nt my uncle's wife but we felt a lot closer to her than we ever do to his wife. She was one of US for sure. I miss her like crazy :) Every R&B song from the 80s reminds me of her.

I feel the way you felt , I don't think she ever knew how much I liked her despite the drama that went on between her and my uncle.I still remember the last thing she ever said to me "You better go back to school." sniff ...

12. When I was in elementary school, we sang this in "All County Chorus"

It was a special chorus made up of students who auditioned from all the local elementary schools. We did one big performance each year of about 10-12 songs, and in 5th grade (1989) this was the "big number" we did--the real showstopper. I'd never heard it until we got our sheet music and lyrics and started practicing it. Then I just fell in love.

It's a wonderful song, and I don't care if other people find it cheesy. :P
