Can you iron Cordoroy?
I have a cordoroy sport coat and vest. I'd like to wear them when I go to the ohio party on the 29th. But they are wrinkles from sitting in a bag in my nephew's apartment for the last 2 months.

Do you know How to get wrinkles out of cordoroy?

Thank you very much. :hi:

1. Turn them inside out, and iron the other (flat) side if you can
Don't iron them the regular way-- it messes them up (personal experience talking here)

2. Thank you!
That's easy to do with the vest. I think I'll need some help with the jacket. :)

3. Oh yeah, that could be problematic...
You might be able to "hang" out the wrinkles, or maybe put it in a steamy bathroom while you shower. I'm a terrible iron-er, and hanging stuff in the bathroom has saved me many a time. :D

4. I agree with the first post
but if the jacket is going to cause you problems, can you afford to get it to a same day dry cleaner for just a press? :hi:

7. Can cordoroy be pressed without damaging it?

Unfortunately, I'm clueless about caring for this stuff. If that's an option then that's easy. There is a dry cleaner 1 block away. My new roommate would definitely be willing to walk it over there for me. :)

10. They should be able to steam it for you
there, I would think. Been a long time since I wore any corduroy, tho. Might we worth a phone call to ask 'em. Good luck and remember, everyone loves you for your insides, not what you wear.

5. How stuff works says about ironing badly wrinkled corduroy...
**When pressing badly wrinkled corduroy, hold the iron just above the garment and steam the fabric thoroughly. While the corduroy is still damp, quickly smooth it along the ribs with your palm.**

I've never tried it, so I would go with someone experienced in the matter. Just thought I would look it up for you, though. ;)

8. Cool.

That's definitely a job for someone else who's hands work, but I think I have a volunteer. :)

If that doesn't work, then, as suggested above, I'll try the dry cleaners.

9. The only steamer I have is a very hot shower.
If I leave this hanging in the bathroom for a few days then maybe repeated hot showers will have an effect. :)

14. Can you toss it in a dryer for 30 minutes?
That should sort things out.
