The TRUTH about the phrase "it tastes like chicken": That only refers to the DARK MEAT.

More to the point, that referred to the "dark meat"
a VERY long time ago, back when chickens ran wild
and their dark meat actually had some "gamey" flavor.

That's when the phrase "tastes like chicken" was coined.

But that was well over two hundred generations worth of
industrially-raised-chickens-bred-for-blandness ago,
and probably along time before that.

I have personally killed and eaten squirrels, rabbits, and snakes...
and they taste EXACTLY like squirrels, rabbits, and snakes.

I once had the pleasure of consuming a bowl of the USA's best "turtle soup"
at the "Commodore's Palace" Restaurant in New Orleans.

It tasted like rabbit.
