My Daughter, WannaBeGrumpy

Is very, very sick. She has a very bad infection and was taken into surgery tonight, where they removed a good deal of infected tissue, her left tube and ovary. She is now in telemetric care on mega doses of antibiotics and they are draining her abdomen. They don't know why/how this happened. They don't know if they got it all. She had been dealing with cysts for over 9 months and we have been proactive about it and this just happened. I cannot bear to think of losing her. I know I am not around very much but I am begging for some good vibes because I just really can't take this. Please keep my baby in your thoughts. All I know is that I really just don't want to go through this anymore.

46. Wishing you the best, how old is your daughter and how long has she been sick?

I ask because I had a rare form appendiceal tumor, an Adenomatous tumor of the appendix, removed this year. Its not an infection, its a mucous cell tumor and spreads in women usually to the ovary and doctors think first they have an ovarian problem. In fact I was having surgery done by my gyn who found it looking for a fallopian tube problem. Its more common in men and older women 40-50+ in age. If it goes long enough the mucus cells that ruptured from the appendix and spread to other organs where they stick and produce enough mucus in the abdomen to obstruct other organs and the patients chances vary for recovery how soon it was caught and treatment given. I am in fact having a specialist review my chart this month for follow up care after realizing that they can come back. It occurs .1 % in the population.

I am hopeful your daughter is in good hands and will recover. With a caring mom like you she is in great hands.

As a teenager I experienced a massive abdominal pains. I could not walk upright the pain was so unbearable. After 3 days with this pain my mother finally took me to the doctor, who suggested I get to the hospital ASAP. They thought I had an appendicitis but once they cut me open discovered I had a ovarian cysts the size of a grapefruit. I lost that ovary. I recovered quickly.

237. **An update and gratitude**

Nicole is holding her own. Her temperature is manageable which is a very good sign. I spent most of the day with her, leaving when I realized she sleeps better without me staring at her...even though she begs me to stay. Her heartrate is elevated (ranging from 110-120, with bouts of a very tachy 155), and that is very scary to watch. They removed her catheter and I'm afraid it may have been a little too soon as they wanted her to "go" within 6 hours and she hasn't yet. The NG is still in but its output is minimal which is also good. I am trying very hard to keep a positive attitude and a smile at the ready. I wish I could take this away from her, I hope I can someday stop feeling as if I am poison to those I love best. I appreciate all of your thoughts for one who does not often visit and usually creates a mess when she does these days. I will print out all of your good wishes for Nicole so she can see how many care about her. It was, to be honest, a crap 3 and a half months for her, and I am hoping she stays mentally and emotionally strong enough to do this.

You need to be not so hard on yourself. You did not cause any of this.

I Had a little girl at age 21. Not married to her father. Her father was an asshole. Tried to kill my father and myself in one day. He did not complete his mission. My daughter did not get her "daddy" until she was 6. She has his last name, however the adoption is not complete.

We have had two sons since we got married. A couple miscarriages, and finally a complete pregnancy. My 18 month old was born. With much protection, my 8 month old was conceived. Born 5 weeks early.

While 4 months pregnant with my last, my daughter went into DKA, Diabetic Keto Acidotisocs. I just almost lost my baby girl. I have no one in my family that is diabetic. We did not know. She was almost comatose when we brought her in. She was in ICU for 2 days, the doctors saying "we do not know if she will make it"

However my daughter is here, alive and surviving.

And your's will too. Nik will make it Laura, and so will James. Keep close attention to James, he has been through a lot this year. Keep your attention on your babies, they need it.

Also, pay love to yourself, honey, you need it!

...and sending strength your way. Infections, fevers can be extremely scary. Keep in mind, though, that usually if they can get the fever under control the prognosis is okay. When I spiked a massive fever and was hospitalized with septicaemia, what I wanted most was peace and quiet. The presence of other people, even those I loved, was jarring when I was worst off. Mainly, I wanted the G--D--- nurses to let me rest, quit opening the room door so the light glared onto my face, quit poking me with stuff, and quit shoving noisy, rattly carts past the door...

A couple of days later when the fever was under control and I was over the worst, I wanted visitors again for short periods to distract me, to hand me more ice water, and to rub lotion onto the parts of my dry, dry skin that I couldn't reach. With prayers and luck, Nicole with reach that stage soon and your presence will be much needed and appreciated.
