Birders, engineers, schmart people, I am fishing for ideas

I want a "woodpecker only" bird feeder. I made it long and skinny so the woodpeckers can use their asses for stability as they eat. I just am stumped on how to make the openings.

I plan to fill with homemade suet. It came out ok except the suet didn not hold itself together good (like storebought) because I probably didn't use enough fat.

If I drill very small holes all over do you thing the woodpeckers will do their pecking to make the food accessable? Should I go with 1/2 inch holes so they dont have to work?

I have let this part stop me from finishing the feeder. It is pretty much still out there as it was 3-4 days ago when I took this pic.

Any ideas?

I want mine to be cool hehe. It would be neat to watch them rivetting into it. I may just do that for starters. Drill little holes so they get a wiff and want whats inside.

I was just seeing if anyone else has tried this.
