2. I don't think I've used a newsreader in almost a decade....

Remember when the WWW was just laughable? Most of it at least. I don't really know when that changed. It happened pretty gradually. Or it seems that way to me tonight.

4. Usenet is now mostly a home for binaries pirates. (guilty)

But I do find it amusing to see that as DU has grown, it more and more, reflects the old discussion groups with all the problems that made most of them ultimately irrelevant.

I use Newsrover BTW. It's a little sluggish in groups with more than say 450,000 headers but has a great interface and some very handy features.
