I'm reading a book of short stories... scary stories. It's an old book... all the stories were written in the late 30s I think. It's all flowery language and idioms i'm not accustomed to.

I'm feeling so down and the night's barely started. I hate days like this.

36. Insurance, but not that kind.
I'm with a title insurance underwriter (real property or "dirt 'n buildings").

I'm in management, but I'm an ace examiner, so I get troubleshooting duty when it's big dollars. We're very fair, and folks will get paid (an error was made) but we have to fix the problem so everybody's property is free and clear.

Thanks for the compliment!

Gotta go grab another...

I've got a 1.5 mile circuit I try to do every day. I also have a 1-mile roundtrip walk to/from my car at work, so I do that too. I still haven't got back into the gym thing like I was last spring/summer, but I'm working my way back to it. If it gets any colder I suppose I'll have to head back in there.

It's amazing how much things change when you quit the cancer sticks, huh? Your lungs don't want to jump out of your chest, you don't hack up a lung every morning... it's definitely worth the agony of quitting.

Thanks for the kind welcome back... it's good to see you again!

49. when I was a kid, still starving after dinner, my mom would
break out the Bisquick and we'd have pancakes and eggs. Delicious! Now pancakes are my comfort food & I've found a recipe I really like.

The site is for software sales, specifically graphics/3D/2D/photography stuff. It's just an affiliate program (you know, click thru to the advertiser's site, if someone buys, you get a percentage), but I set it up over the summer, then my sister's cancer came back and she had to have major surgery and I went out there for that, then her house almost burned in the SoCal fires, then my husband and I went to Russia, and then my niece got married and... I just haven't had time to promote it. Phew! Things have quieted down here recently so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm pretty clueless - seems like site promotion is really an art -- but I'm trying to learn because I'd like to set up a few other sites in the coming months.

57. oh, blueberries!
I spent a summer in Rhode Island and the blueberries were just heavenly. I put them in almost everything I could think of, and then I'd just get lazy and plop a boxful into some cereal and keep eating them. Sigh. Good stuff.

Sister's OK, had chemo before surgery, now going through her 3rd week (of 7 weeks) of radiation. Her husband is back home (he was in the Antarctic when she had her surgery - they're scientists who have to fulfill their contracts in order to get paid, so she told him to go ahead and go b/c I and another sister would be there for her) so she's got some good support. She's strong and positive, but resigned to the fact that she'll probably be dealing with this for the rest of her life - her doctors have told her that for her, cancer will probably just be chronic from now on. Periods when she's healthy, and periods when she's fighting it. So, just something I don't think about too deeply, you know? Otherwise it could be a real bummer.

Anyway - thank you for asking. Didn't mean to write a treatise on it!

Third trip to Russia; St. Petersburg is a spectacular city, and much, much easier to travel to/within than it was when I first went there 8 years ago. Lots of renovation, much more westernized - not that that's necessarily a good thing, but it does make getting around a bit easier.

62. I am super.. but
I am not sure what happened today. I didnt drink. But, I think I was abducted by aliens. Twice, in fact, because there was an odd rift in the time continuum. 9am to 10am seemed like an hour, but so did the time from 10am to 4pm. 4 to 5 was again normal... then BAM! It's 8:30!

I do not feel violated in any way other than the theft of time.

I shall crack a beer soon and debate the possibilities in my mind.

I also miss someone. Hmm.. I can hope we were both abducted and used in some weird alien porno they had a fantasy about and then erased our brains. No evidence of this whatsoever.

69. Feeling indifferent.
Hubby's at his Holiday work party.

I got home a bit early after doing a workshop. Polished off the left-over cold sesame noodles. On my second cocktail.

Lurves lolcats. I submitted one of our girls a few months back. Didn't make the cut.

78. Crappy.
Tired, lonely, crabby.

I'm missing reprehensor terribly. Our house closes on the 20th, and although I was eager to leave, I'm getting homesick, and I'm beginning to miss Texas. I don't know if we did the right thing. At least when he's here we'll be together again. Although it won't be til after Christmas.

I'm stuck at a consulting gig I hate right now. If they can't backfill me, I'm stuck there for 6 months. And nearby friends have all been uncommunicative in general lately.

I'd be going to bed every night at 7 if I didn't have to walk the damned dog. I'm too depressed to do anything else.

81. Witnessing the same old, same old, and as is the case with familiarity, moving beyond it.
Which is good news.

I hope that your night brings you some peace, Lost.

86. Sitting down for a much needed break
after mixing up and refrigerating two double batches of biscotti dough (orange-poppyseed and lemon-anise) and forming up the batch of dark-chocolate-rum ganache into 37 rolled bits, ready for coating. The coating chocolate is still a little too warm and my feet a little too sore ;) The first set is in the freezer so the coating chocolate will set faster and the second batch of extra-dark ganache (no added alcohol) is on the counter to warm up a little.

I made the mistake of trying to form the first batch into the little balls for truffles when it was too hard, so some of them are a little lumpy. Most people don't care so long as it's rich and delicious :9 I'll bake up the biscotti tomorrow night when the doughs are easier to handle and I can sit between bakings :D I will also add any decorations to the truffles with either the white or milk chocoates.

I think I'll try some of my Sabra (chocolate-orange liqueur) in a batch this weekend and see how that turns out...
