Happy/Sad
My best friend from waaaaayyyy back (middle school!) is coming for an impromptu visit tomorrow! :woohoo:

But... she's coming because she's supposed to be at her long-term boyfriend's house in Ottawa, and they just broke up. :(

I am so excited to see her -- i think it's been 2 years! But i'm very very sad for her too. Hope i can entertain her and take her mind off it a little bit.

Any suggestions for cheering up a brokenhearted friend?

1. Theres nothing so wrong with the world that cant be fixed
with a liberal application of beer.

Frank Zappa.

2. My grandpa says
"Never drink when you have a reason to."

Sound advice! :toast:

3. My best friend is getting divorced
after just over a year married. He left her for another woman. I'm going to see her in a couple of weeks before she moves away to CA ( ). The girls and I are all going to go out, get drunk, and dance (we are all former dancers, so it is quite the sight.)

4. Oh, poor thing!!!

Any kids involved? That's a whole other level of sad. :(

I'm glad you'll get to see her before she moves! How is she holding up? Does she know the other woman???

5. No kids
Thankfully. She is doing ok, I think. Hard to tell with her. She is the type to stuff it and joke. Yes, she has met the other woman at least once in the past. Evidentally her hubby has known her for years and they played volleyball together weekly.

7. Sigh

I guess it's probably for the best -- better for this to happen now than 20 years down the road -- but that sure doesn't make it any easier. :(

6. Is she cute?
KIDDING....

I have no idea what to do. If it was a guy I would say lets go to a club and find another girl, but that doesnt apply in this case.

8. She is!!!
This guy is definitely an idiot!

No, only kidding, i think it was a sort of mutual "we just aren't that compatible" type of thing. Still sucks though.

14. Hells yeah.
If she's feeling displaced from breaking up, repeating something fun from your history will ground her. Plus the regular fun that's involved.

Have fun!

17. Yeah, i'm going to leave it up to her
See what she's in the mood for -- but we had some pre-existing plans for drinks/dancing tomorrow night. There is a really fun club that has "Ladies 80s" on Thursdays -- girls get in free, and it's all fun alt-80s music. Hopefully she'll be up for it, cuz it's a blast! :D

13. I have an idea!
Videotape the two of you in bikinis, wrestling in oil then making out. Post the results here. All the men (and some women) lusting after the images and posting about it are bound to make her (and you) feel great!!

I probably shouldn't add fuel to this particular fire, but she is in fact the first person i ever had a sexual relationship with -- back in middle school! So it's pretty fabulous that we're still best friends... hopefully my fiance doesn't find this worrying...

Then listen. Let her blab on for as long as she needs to.
