Wal-Mart yanks teen girls panties.
Edited on Wed Dec-12-07 03:46 PM by ohiosmith

Suggestive pink Santa panties targeting young girls are being removed from Wal-Mart stores after parents objected to the offensive undergarments.

The panties, which were sold in the juniors department, seemed to suggest that girls don't need money, they just need a sugar daddy — in this case Santa Claus.

The hipster briefs — carrying the slogan "Who needs credit cards ..." on the front and "When you have Santa" on the derriere — caused an uproar among parents, who called for the $2.96 drawers to be pulled off the racks.

"We have directed our stores to remove this merchandise from our shelves," Linda Brown Blakely, a spokeswoman for Wal-Mart, told FOXNews.com Wednesday

Like the t-shirts there that say "Future Porn Star."

Or the sweat pants with "HOT!" on the ass.

12. A few months back, I saw a high school girl...
Edited on Wed Dec-12-07 04:31 PM by NewJeffCT
A rather busty young girl in a tight t-shirt that read, "These are my access passes" plastered right across her boobs.

I did a double-take to make sure I read it correctly, then just shook my head.

And, I knew she was in high school because she was among several other high schoolers at the time.

For that very reason. She used her tickets all thetime. This was the 70's back when we didn't know wrong from right, unlike the 21st century. :headbang:

11. Fucking morons. Fucking interfering, time-wasting, prudish piss-drinking fuckbags.
Fuck you, you fucking useless wastes of human flesh.

If you're offended by something, then don't goddamned look at it. Don't fucking buy it.

Jesus. Telling a store that they can't carry something because you find it offensive - what a load of fucking shit.

Busybody useless assholes.

And like we, the intelligent people, should even care what offends the tastes of someone who shops at WalMart. They probably wouldn't have been offended if Santa hadn't been named on the back, and only the wording on the front were left.

I'm really angry now. Shit like this drives me over the edge.

(but let me also add that, yes, I think the panties are in bad taste, and any parent who WOULD buy their daughter one of them needs to have their head examined and IS likely to be kind of person to shop at WalMart to begin with).

14. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree
I think it's a shitty message to foist onto teens--you don't need to build a good credit rating if you're willing to fuck for money. That's simply not an appropriate topic for humor marketed at kids.

And I don't buy the argument, as you so eloquently put it, "If you're offended by something, then don't goddamned look at it. Don't fucking buy it." This only works if you think human beings only grow up in complete isolation from each other. The reality is that cultural messages diffuse, ideas about what is acceptable language and acceptable behavior is mostly shaped by peer relationships. You can't piss in the pond and then tell me I can protect my family from offensive content by just staying out of your way.

There's a moral component to the Tragedy of the Commons.

We were in the Hot Topic store and she wanted to buy a t-shirt (not really offensive) that said "Boys Like Girls" and I said no way. Later she got on the phone to her friends and told them all about it. Well, the laugh was on me because low and behold it's a name of a band. I guess she'll be telling that one for years!

Little did anybody know, some 35 years later, THE REAL THING WOULD HAPPEN.

BTW: Wouldn't freedom mandate if the individual walmart manager wanted to keep the hussy drawers for sale, they'd do so anyway?

An individual chainstore manager has less autonomy than a paperboy (or girl). Edicts come down from Corporate HQ and you ignore them at the risk of your job.

24. Seconded.
A friend of mine has two stepdaughters, and trying to buy them clothes that cover anything, don't have sexualized slogans on them, etc is damn near impossible. WalMart is the worst offender, though Penneys is also very bad (hip huggers and thongs for toddlers. Swear to god.) Target has some acceptable stuff that's cute but still tasteful.

When my daughter was a baby, I looked at two toddler sized jogging suits.

The pink one said "Future Cheerleader".

The blue one said "Little Genius".

You can guess which one I bought and which one she wore -- the blue one.

I wouldn't buy them for my kid but I sure as hell wouldn't try to tell a store they couldn't sell them. Juniors size clothing is also worn by a lot of adult women so it's not like they're specifically targeting this item to 10 year olds or something.

47. The question of "who needs credit cards", is technically a good one
See, you have to use the corporate advertising against itself. Then you'd just end up buying more of these as they put more question on them.

"Why is a corporation a legal person?"

Then on the derriere, "Because it owns your ass".

"Why do we need wind farms?"

On the back..."Because there is a crack in this model".
