12 years of visual bliss down the drain - I had to get glasses today
Well, the exam was Saturday, and I got the glasses today. I had RK and PRK back in 1996 and have done without glasses or contacts since then. Now I'm 45 and have had some trouble driving at night, as well as a spot of trouble reading small print. I got the progressive lenses that help with both close-up and far-away vision. We'll see how well I do at work tomorrow. SIGH.

1. They've made lots of advances since then. Are you a candidate for Lasik now?
They might be able to give you a "tune-up." :)

I just got Lasik, so I am glasses/contacts free for the first time in 30+ years...I feel for ya having to go back. :(

5. I don't know
Oh, well. I just wanted to be able to see with a minimum of fuss. I'm an attorney and am on the computer/drafting/reading documents all day, and I really need to have my eyes at their optimum state!

2. My pop used to have a saying
"I cried when I had no shoes until I saw the man who had no feet."

I do alot of work with the visually disabled of all ages. Count your blessings.

6. Gosh, I am so sorry
I did not mean it like that, I am tuly sorry. I didn't think I jumped on her for posting the thread

Part of my work is with multi-handicapped children, people who on top of being physically handicapped, are visually disabled. The part that never fails to astonish me, speaking of complaining; well, is, they never do. They have never known any different. Its a benefit of the work. You can be having what one could consider a 'bad day' and 5 minutes with them totally changes your perception.

7. Here's a little inspiration for you:
This girl I worked with today is wheelchair bound and has all manner of birth defects, including having no arms. She is completely blind in one eye, but can see 20/100 with a really strong prescription, like -28.00 diopters, in one eye. She cant wear glasses because of multiple reasons. So she wears a contact lens, which she takes in and out of her eye by using her toes! She also paints with her feet and does neat landscapes
