I think I need to see a Dr about my knuckle....
It started about 6 weeks ago...I was in Printmaking class, and my lowest knuckle on the middle finger of my right hand got very red and painful. While I haven't engaged in the activity that I was doing when it started since (drypoint etching), every day now it gets red and painful, and now it is swelling with increased activity. It hurts when I write in class for more than 20 minutes. It hurts right now, while I type, and I'm barely bending the joint. I really don't want to know what's wrong with it. x(

I hate getting older.

5. See a doctor.
I ignored an injury on the same knuckle of the index finger - wrenched it lifting an enameled pot with one finger, d'oh. The redness and swelling eventually went away, but six years later I now have a limited range of motion in that finger, and I have a lump on that tendon the size of a kidney bean.

I will be 30 in Feb. and some days my knees ache so badly.

All that dancing as a youngster. Guess I should've skipped a few of those raves. :) ;) :)

20. Am sure you're taking an anti-inflammatory for it...?
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 07:21 PM by Whoa_Nelly
You can ice it off and on, and if that doesn't help, try low heat (10 min. on/20 min. off)

Sounds like you overused your hand, and that was the pressure point that received the brunt of the work done.
You may have ruptured a tendon. Definitely needs a doc to check it all out

Maybe a hand brace will help relieve some of the strain, too. :hi:

No, not taking anything, b/c I'm trying to avoid substances of any kind for a very particular reason ;)

But yes, that is very possible. Thanks!
