Aw crud. There's a CD stuck in my car CD player. Removal suggestions?

Two nights ago this guy gives me a CD. I start listening to it in my car on the way home. The first few songs play fine. Then it starts skipping, a little at first, then more and more. Finally it starts making this rattling noise, except I didn't realize at first that it was the CD player making the noise, I thought it was the fan in car, which kind of rattles a little anyway. Finally I hit the "eject" button, but the CD wouldn't come out.

We spent about half an hour last night trying to get it out, mostly by jimmying a credit card into the slot, trying to find where it might be hung up and get it free, and also by trying to push the CD into a better "eject" position with another CD. No dice.

I am not too concerned about the CD at this point, I figure it's broken for good now and jammed in there somehow. But I would like to be able to use my car CD player again, and I don't want to damage that while trying to remove the CD.

Any suggestions as to what to try next? Or what to definitely NOT try?

Thanks!

:hi:

2. Dynamite.
I can't say you'll ever be able to use the CD or the player again, but at least it will get the CD out.

3. Some CD players have a pin hole in the front. It's a manual release.
An unrolled paperclip will fit in there and open the CD player if your model has that manual release.

If you don't have this option, or if it doesn't work, the I think the only option is to have the CD player removed and the case opened. :(

4. UPDATE: I GOT IT OUT!

In better light today I could see that the CD was just at the edge of the player and wanted to come out. So I worked at it a little while with tweezers and finally extracted it. Yays! Turned out the homemade paper label came undone inside the player, and was hanging it up.

Go me!

:woohoo:

12. Yay! Same happened to me, except that I had to resort to the experts to get it out.
Now I never play "home-made" cd's or library cd's in the car anymore.
