2. Are they?
I don't think we have them here...

Not yet at least...

The Santa Anas don't always bring fires...

Hopefully they won't bring them this time...

5. As much as I intellectually know that not all Santa Ana events bring fire
there is a part of me that is still trying to process what happened in October, on a deep emotional level.

I am not a total wreck, mind you, but certainly, the fact that it is windy right now does raise the tension level a bit.

6. I was just thinking those things too...
Your intro to living here was rough, and that takes a toll...

Wish I could do something to bring your comfort level up a bit...

7. You have done more than your share.

I never thought I would say that I love tornadoes, but I guess I do, in a perverse sense.

When a tornado hits, one usually has ample warning (especially if equipped with a battery operated weather radio), one can take cover in the basement, and the whole thing is over in a mere hour or two. You go upstairs, survey the damage (if any), and get on with your life.

We once had one of our trees get blown over. Thankfully it did not get blown onto the house, and thankfully there was no one on the road when it fell, because they would have surely been goners. Everyone in the neighborhood owned chainsaws and the electrical stuff was all underground, so the cutting up of the tree was done in a few hours.

I do what I can...

I hear you about tornadoes! I've never lived in them...

Sounds like you knew how to cope!
