1. Ironically - the convention will be held about one mile from the collapsed I-35W bridge
I don't suppose they will be taken on tours to see their handiwork up close.

2. It's more like six or seven miles -- in the St. Paul Convention Center,

not Minneapolis. So, sadly, they won't have a chance to see what happens when you starve government. And Timmy The Tool Pawlenty is doing his damnedest to get the bridge rebuilt by then (won't happen, though). On the other hand, they WILL get a chance to go right by the Larry Craig Memorial Bathroom as they go through the central concourse at MSP airport on their way to baggage claim.

4. Have they upgraded the bathroom yet? I suspect it'll look like this:

The glory holes are hidden, of course...

5. I went by it on Friday afternoon,
and availed myself of the ladies' right next door, which looked like it always has, a regular bathroom in which a "wide stance" is physically impossible. Don't know if they've fixed up Larry's Place, but a couple of airline pilots told me people still ask where it is, want to get a look. I love it that the Republicthulhus will have to be reminded of it again next summer.

8. No. They wanted to be in the house that Norm built
It was constructed on his watch as mayor of St Paul. So, of course, that means he gets all the credit.

7. Why settle for the lesser evil, eh?
As they say:
No Cthulhu, know peace; know Cthulhu, no peace.

11. I find that slightly scarier than the Cthulhu mythos.
At least Cthulhu will eventually spare us the continual torment and devour us.
