Heisman Trophy: Did the right man win?
So Tim Tebow won the Heisman Trophy tonight.

This wasn't a huge shock as he was the huge media favorite and polling of the Heisman voters showed him with a clear edge.

Still, one thing I found interesting was that even though Tebow won pretty much every award voted on by the media, including the SEC Offensive Player of the Year, he lost that same title when it was voted on by the coaches in that league. In that vote, the coaches picked McFadden over Tebow:

Was this because the coaches who saw these 2 players the most often were able to look past all the misleading stats and see who the best player really was? Or were they just giving him a sympathy vote? Or was it something else?

2. No.
If you're gonna pick a QB, it should've been the one who led his team to an undefeated (rather than three-loss ) season, not to mention a BCS bowl:

Or if you're gonna go for the pure best player, it's McFadden (an RB shouldn't be held as responsible for his team being a four-loss train wreck as a QB). He did, after all, singlehandedly destroy the then-No. 1 team in the country just a couple of weeks ago.

3. No!
Tebow is the latest in a looooooong line of gimmicky system quarterbacks to come out of the state of Florida. Charlie Ward, Gino Torretta, Danny Wuerffell, et al., all were world beaters in college, but fell to pieces once they were taken out of their system.

McFadden is the true stud of the college ranks. he was first in the nation in rushing yards against ranked opponents, so we know he's not benefitting from a soft schedule.

If the Patriots pick him up next spring, you won't hear me complaining!

4. No is my answer too
I left it out of my OP, but this was what I thought:
the coaches who saw these 2 players the most often were able to look past all the misleading stats and see who the best player really was

McFadden was the most outstanding player of the year.
