Ergh!! Question re: Medical Collections Coming After me after 4 YEARS!!

Just received a call from collections agency for an ER bill I paid back in June of 2003. They say I owe $105. Can they do that, I mean, isn't there some kind of statue of limitations at play here?

1. Just happened to me on a charge almost 20 months ago.

I called them to protest and it turned out to be a mistake.

Do you have a canceled check you can send them to prove you paid. You can probably get a copy from the bank.

I also had a call several years ago about a credit check I wrote and then had to close the account due to the card being stolen. I went to the place where I wrote the credit check and settled it up with cash.

Then 4 or 5 years later I got this call from some place saying they were going to send me to jail if I didn't pay them AGAIN for this. I told them that I had the same bank account still and had NEVER written a bad check, and demanded proof.

When I discovered it was the credit checks that I had taken care of in good faith, I told them to go to hell and shoot their best shot and come after me. He yelled and screamed and said it would cost me thousands in legal fees and jail time. Bullshit. I never heard from them again.
