It's ambiguous, but if "take all the rope in Texas and go hang 'em high" is not a reference to lynching, I dunno what it is. Maybe someone can explain it to me...I'm not familiar with Toby's oeuvre.
Honestly, that was my initial reaction when I heard about the booby incident: "Why the hell was Janet Jackson wasting her time and talent performing with Justin fucking Timberlake?"
That was right up there (or should I say, right down there?) with Aretha Franklin recording a duet with George Michael back in 1987--and having it become Lady Soul's second biggest pop hit ever! :puke:
with these "entertainers"? Toby Keith? Kid Rock? Justin Timberlake? Did the Bush twins get to select this year's halftime show? Considering the demographics of who actually watches the game, why (out of the hundreds of talented musicians in this country) did MTV select these marginally talented people? Good game. Sad little commercials. And pathetic half-time show of writhing bodies lip synching inane lyrics. We're sorry, Panthers and Patriots. You deserved better. And so did the viewers.
Because I didn't find any of these things particularly offensive - just lame and stupid. Kid Rock is far more disgusting in general than anything he wears on a given day. I was more offended by President Scumbag's appearance before the game. And disturbed by the helicopters flying over at the end of the national anthem. And what about P. Diddy's coat? That was offensive.
19. The fact that all SB halftime shows absolutely suck!
They were bad with Up With People. They suck now with all these hack pop acts (although they scored some points with U2, Sting and Paul McCartney in recent years).
