Divorce is bad for the environment

"A rising tide of divorce is taking a huge toll on the planet, warns a groundbreaking analysis of the environmental impact of divorce.

The environmental cost of a marriage splitting occurs because couples and their families move into separate properties after divorce – meaning they collectively occupy more space, burn more energy, and consume more water than they did as a family unit."

Why stop with this? I think we should all live in communes and reduce the environmental load even further. I understand the point they're making and it seems entirely logical that sharing a living space is more frugal than living alone. I mean, duh! But don't get divorced for the sake of the environment? Let's toss that on it's ass and say "shack up to save the earth!"

1. If divorce is bad for the environment - what about single occupancy vehicles.

14. Hair shirts and sackcloth are just the thing.
You need to put the ashes in a quart-sized ziploc and put your whip (for self-flagellation) in your checked baggage.

15. My eyes hurt when I stare at this much burning idiocy
Not to mention my brain.

I'm separated from my husband. We occupy small homes. My son's bedroom is at his father's house. I have a roommate. We are destroying the earth more apart than together how, exactly?
