new to DU-got some questions...

which I have not found answers to on the FAQ's nor received answers from the moderators/admin, so perhaps some veteran here would be so kind:

1. What is the rule re linking to a web radio site?
I had a post blocked, as far as I can tell for this reason.

2. Is there a way to view any and all replies to one's own posts, besides by going to all the threads one has posted to?

1. Click on the icon that says My DU

It'll show you the posts you've made the past 48 hours and how many folks have replied to them

Don't know about your radio question

2. Welcome to DU!

I'm not sure about your first question, but you can send a PM (private message, i.e., DU email) to any of the mods who can probably clear it up. There is a little link at the top right of each forum that says "Moderators of this forum." If you click on that it gives you a list of moderators and you can click on their names to send a PM.

Alternatively, if you have a moderator posting, you can just click on the little mail icon at the top of it to send a PM.

3. Thanks for the welcomes.

Here is a copy of the blocking msg I got which may help clarify:
"New threads must be based on a recently-published news item or op-ed piece. They may not be based on editorial cartoons or photographs. Citations and references should include a link to the original source."

I was linking to a broadcast of Democracy Now, maybe that is not considered a news item. But I did see posts which had no text and only linked to YouTube.

I have found the MY DU, but perhaps I haven't yet found all it can do, as far as tracking replies.

I did send to the moderator thru that link, but perhaps I'll re-send.

Otherwise, I'm finding my way around pretty well. It's nice that this is such a large, active group. There seems to always be someone around. I've only posted on a few forums.
Overall, I think the site is very user-friendly and I like a lot of the tools, like My journal.

Best of all, is to run into people with shared interests and likes, eg Abby Hoffman and Aldo Leopold! :D

5. Most likely you posted it in LBN, which has some pretty strict rules

and sometimes things just happen.. I posted a post the other day mainly about MEXICO & China, but because it hinted at middle east comparison, it got locked and sent to the Israel palestine forum, where it was immediately locked as not being "relevant" there..so I was reminded why I rarely ever post about "that area"..:) There are some "Touchy" subjects, best left alone:eyes:

One way to track your posts is to hit the "mark" button when you leave a forum.. the folders will turn "gray".. when you go back, the thread with new responses will be yellow again.. some may contain replies to you :)

According to the response I got, there's been a problem in general with linking to multi-media.

LBN is really for news stories that are 24 hrs or less old. You have to post 4 paragraphs or less from the story with an active link. If its video, and no accompanying print, I don't know. I'd ask a mod about that.

On DU, if somebody spells something as "Moran" when you think it should be "Moron" please do not correct them.

Similarly, "Hugh" vs "Huge" and "I'm series" vs "I'm serious"
