Who wants to run away?
Ever fantasize about running away?
Just taking off... cleaning out what's left of the checking and savings accounts
and driving and driving and driving... without a map
or destination?

And I hate driving, too!!

Okay. I guess that was a stupid idea.

Time to get ready for work.

*sigh*

1. I've done it before on a temporary basis
The last time I did it I ended up on Marathon Key down in Florida sitting on a lagoon beach and feeding beer to a goat.

3. It certainly was
I'm going to have to try that again some time when I get my paid time off at work. I've been all over the country but have had very little time to hang out and get to know the place.

4. I always wanted to run away for the Christmas holiday.
I would love to be somewhere where people catered to me, for a change. Like on a cruise ship, or in a fine hotel in a beautiful city. I would probably miss being home for the holiday, though.... It's just a day-dream I guess.

6. While being catered to would be nice...
I think the appeal to me is just a change of scenery. That sounds pretty shallow, doesn't it? It's a quiet day at work, so I'm over it... for the moment. I think! lol

Plus, I constantly remind myself about the expression about not being able to run away from oneself. I think, sometimes, that's the only reason I don't do it.

24. Not shallow at all...
A change of scenery can be very good for the soul. Then when you do come home, you will feel refreshed and can appreciate the good things. I highly recommend it!

Good luck, KC2.

5. Some days I just want to throw everything in the car
And drive to Nova Scotia - it has the only Buddhist Monastery on this continent that accepts women. But then I remember I have a cat and a dog, and a clunker that probably wouldn't make the journey. Besides, they'd probably confiscate my mystery and science fiction novels.

So yeah, I know exactly how you feel.

37. It is
It's paradise - especially Cape Breton where they speak 4 languages in a 50 mile radius:
English
Scots Gaelic
Acadian French (Cajun)
And
Mik-Maq' - First nations "Indian" (ugh!)

I know - I have lived here for 30 years

8. You can sleep while I drive
Come on baby lets get out of this town
I got a full tank of gas with the top rolled down
Theres a chill in my bones
I dont want to be left alone
So baby you can sleep while I drive
Ill pack my bag and load up my guitar
In my pocket Ill carry my harp
I got some money I saved
Enough to get underway
And baby you can sleep while I drive

Well go thorough tucson up to santa fe
And barbara in nashville says were welcome to stay
Ill buy you glasses in texas a hat from new orleans
And in the morning you can tell me your dreams

9. That has crossed my mind now and then.
When I lived in Kansas, I'd get in the car and drive out to the Flint Hills, alone, to get away and just be by myself and think. I know the feeling.

15. When I first moved to Texas...
...I used to get in my little Mazda 323 and just start driving West. I'd usually turn around by the time I got to Weatherford! lol I don't do it anymore, now that I'm older. Perhaps I should... I don't know.

11. you'd fly away! :)
I am bored out of my mind today, I wish I had somewhere to run to. I'm tired of running and ready to settle down. I just can't think of anywhere I want to settle down. I wish I could settle down in a bunch of places. I've been in this town 4 years and still don't have a bank account here, I still have my bank and insurance in my old town which is 3 hours away. I'm afraid if I move it here I'll be stuck here forever. Hope you have a good day at work. :loveya:

and least visit one of our beautiful state parks or the coast. The driving stinks though especially with the price of gas. I wish I had an electric car.

Edited on Fri Nov-23-07 01:26 PM by hippywife
Luckily, my home is a wonderful sanctuary in a rural area outside of the city with a wonderful husband to share it with so everyday after work, I do run...straight back here. I rarely leave on the weekends.

19. Yes.
There's nothing holding me back. I could try to sell my flat, hopefully get enough from the proceeds to pay off my car, and I would be debt free. The only reason I don't is because I don't have the nerve, I guess.

29. Been there, done that . . .
but I was a bit younger then. I am ready to do it again if I had the extra cash stashed away to feel safe about it. But, having a cat makes me boring-ly and disgusting-ly responsible . . . . without the cat? I'd probably get to the point where I didn't care what happened next, more of the same is what's unbearable.

That is the place I have been before. This time? Gonna wait things out; think things through, and hopefully --- still do it!!!

It's hard to get 'unstuck' here. But that is how I have to look at it right now -- how to get unstuck right where I'm at if I choose not to try to leave yet.
