Like me?

I hate crowds.
Especially crowds of rude, greedy jerks.

1. I'm not.
Especially not at 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning. I like a good bargain, but I like my sleep even better.

And like you, I hate crowds.

2. I'm not. Except maybe online.
The only day of the year I willingly deal with crowds to go shopping is the day after Christmas at Macy's. But I'm definitely not doing that anymore.

No way, no how am I setting foot inside a commercial establishment tomorrow. It was quite bad enough in the supermarket yesterday. I usually buy my few holiday gifts on-line anyway. It not only saves on gas and nerves, but a lot of folks will even gift wrap and deliver it for you.

28. I have never been shopping the Friday after Thanksgiving in my life
and don't intend to start now.

That said, I *do* look at the sale papers, and if the stores are not mobbed all day tomorrow it means the economy has had it, because it will mean *nobody* has any money. Even I was tempted, but NO WAY!

30. Hell. No!
I do enjoy seeing what's out there, but not on crazy days like tomorrow. And if I buy something, it will be of very good quality, so sales of cheap crap don't interest me. So I buy infrequently, because I have to save for what I buy. And I'd rather take my time and think about something; if I'm willing to buy it, I'm willing to buy it full price. If I can find it on sale, great, but otherwise, I'll buy it anyway.

And my family doesn't "do" Christmas, so thankfully there is no need to rush for gifts this time of year. We just make good food, and handmade gifts, or if there is no time to do that, then at least we have each other's company and a good meal. That's enough for me.

50. I'm gonna buck the trend and say "maybe"
But I do agree that opening the doors at freakin' 4am is a bit much. How many of those employees are still in a tryptophane-induced stupor from Thanksgiving dinner? It ain't right.

Still, the least they deserve for getting up so early is at least one smiling, pleasant customer who doesn't want to make their life hell - he just wants to get some nice deals, say "please" and "thank you," and leave the shopkeepers be.

The other motivating factor that comes into play is the need for a more progressive attitude towards any holiday shopping we might do this season.

54. I am going to work at the crack of doom. Then I am coming home.
I may venture out later in the evening to Garden Ridge to get supplies to make wreaths and centerpieces to donate to our Sunday School class charity auction in 10 days. I have a couple of wreaths, and a cute red container and a miscellaneous collection of Christmas picks and things, but need something to jazz them up a bit. And lights to wrap the wreaths. They usually cost me about 7 to 10 dollars depending on what I use and sell for $25 to $30. I have cakes to bake for same party, and other things to find ...I have put together some odd things for this party that have made money....never can tell.

I would not shop if I were off tomorrow. I would work on these same projects, do laundry, maybe plant some of my daffodils that need to get in the ground ..I hate shopping on that day and will not do it unless I have no choice. I don't even like to go to the grocery store. I will be making a pot of chili, I already have all the stuff to make it.

Seriously, I hate crowds and I hate mall people...but Friday is my one chance to push people around, snatch things out of people's carts, trip little old ladies and their "walkers" (fakers), and buy a bunch of crap I will never use.

Sigh, but the thrill of the hunt...one day a year to get back to my hunting and gathering roots.....

I admit, I have gone.... more to people watch than anything...

64. I'm looking for a new bed, so I will probably do a little shopping
I prefer shopping on my days off --I'm not tired. Tomorrow will be a little crazy at the stores, but I won't go until later in the day.

I am the consummate non shopper who avoids malls and stores except when I need something from them and I really don't like malls. However, when I need to buy something, if it's at the mall, I go, if it's the day after Thanksgiving and it's a good time for me to go because I am free, then I'll go then.

If I thought that refraining from shopping for one day was a blow against materialism, then I might forego shopping tomorrow. It's just that I don't think it is. I prefer to refrain in general throughout the year, although I don't refrain completely. I own tv's, furniture, a car, things though I don't go looking to add to my collection of stuff, in fact, mostly try to rid myself of things.

So, yeah, I'll shop tomorrow, but you won't see my lining up in the middle of the night to find scarce bargains. Shopping tomorrow is something I'll do as I would on any given day that it needs to be done, I'll just have more company while I'm doing it.
