I want turkey...is that so bad?
I mean, it's the only time of year I get to have the stuff....and I usually put on about fifteen pounds after the whole thing is through. Fifteen pounds too much to sacrifice? Once a year, I think not.

Don't give me your healthy cranberry relish and creamed cabbage ( yeah, that one is big here, but damned good ) I want the really fattening stuff...the kind of food that clogs my arteries till they start screaming for me to stop consuming the shit....when I start feeling chest pain from eating too much of my sisters famous pineapple stuffing, and start vomiting up that delicious cranberry relish that tastes so good going down, but not so pleasant coming out.

Most of all...I want the frigging dark meat from the bird, and everyone there ( all 30 of them ) knows it. So, out of consideration they leave me most of it, and I just sit in a dark corner and devour the frigging thing. Think of me as the Darren Mc Gavin from A Christmas Story, except that the damned Bumpess hounds don't come along and ruin the whole thing for me....

Happy Thanksgiving.....you ravenous bastards

4. Well, I was just following YOUR lead, silly!
I don't think you really are, though...

I think my holiday will be most wonderful, thank you!

We are meeting our older daughter's new boyfriend's parents!

I just hope they're not too Republican!

They seem quite friendly....so far!

6. Well, if the Republicans say something stupid, Ex Lax is something that goes
really well with stuffing! Just a thought, Peggy....pay no mind to that devil on your shoulder, should you encounter that type of thing :dilemma:

7. That would not be a possibility!
First off, I wouldn't...

And secondly, I'm not in charge of any of the cooking!

Ahhhh....so it does, so it does...

This movie is such a tradition in my family because that guy WAS my grandfather, and that household WAS, to a T my Mom and her siblings ( although she had more siblings ) growing up.

I confess to watching that movie every year without fail

So many great, great lines! Jean Shepard was a genius. RIP, Jean.

The blessing is that Keith Olbermann picked up some of Shepard's cadence and wit, and uses it regularly, confessing to be a fan of Shepard.
