apparently, major league soccer is coming to Seattle and they're taking suggestions for team names on their website.

http://www.mlsinseattle.com/

i suggested "Seattle Latte Monkey Fiends", but that's probably too long to fit on a jersey. What are your suggestions for team names?

Or maybe "Seattle Route 73 Bus Sardines."

20. you hate Houston's soccer team?
Edited on Mon Nov-19-07 01:59 PM by MrCoffee
they played fairly well in the 2007 CONCACAF Champions Cup. They lost to Pachuca on a 5-4 aggregate in the semis, and Pachuca went on to win the Cup.

a respectable showing for a 2 year old club.

neener neener.

Plus, they cheat.

13. Seattle Trustafarians
As long as it's not another lame attempt to come up with a European-sounding name (like FC Dallas or Real Salt Lake), I'll be happy.

Seattle Sounders works.

FC Puget Sound Wednesday Ateletico does not.

19. It was the NASL team, too
Sometimes the proven name is the best way to go. Sounders is a good nickname with a sharp logo.

Look at San Jose. "San Jose Clash" was one of the most idiotic names ever. I expected the mascot to be a giant foam rubber Joe Strummer. When they went to the old NASL name of Earthquakes, it was a big improvement.

24. Well, buy the damn name!
If the owners of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays hadn't been such cheap pricks, they could have been the Stingrays, and I'll bet they would have had at least one winning season by now! Don't mess with the sports gods!

42. The Bakers!
Tacoma has the Rainiers for minor league baseball, Seattle can have the Bakers for MLS. (Mt Baker and Mt Rainier are the two northern most (out of five) Washington volcanos.

Or just call them the Sonics (Oklahoma isn't taking the name are they?)
