What actor or actress will you see in any film?
It could be the most critically panned movie of the year. And yet...you'll see that movie anyway because that actor or actress is in it.

Mine? Julianne Moore. She is consistently interesting and watchable in every film.

2. Agreed with Julianne Moore - she's awesome
my other choice, though certain to be less-than-popular, is Nicole Kidman. I adore her.

10. I can see Nicole Kidman
Problem is, when she does things like "Bewitched" and "The Stepford Wives", it's tough going. But those weren't her fault.

On the other hand, when she does something like "The Hours", she is magnificent.

12. ah
well I don't see those movies... which I guess occludes the whole point of this thread.

But I will see her in almost anything she does, because I find her fascinating. She does "Bewitched" so she can then go do 4 small indie films. I love that.

And she's gorgeous. I think she's the closest thing we have today to a "real" movie-star. She's old-school. Audrey Hepburn kinda beautiful and elegant.

4. None.

I am more concerned about story and usually the director than the actors, because a talented director can tell a good story with even a normally shitty actor, and a shitty director can frce a talented actor into self-directing, meaning they have a sense of self consciousness that hinders their performance.

22. That's true. If Rock Hudson never had a good director he would
have been in the can long before he ever started.

17. Geoffrey Rush, and Kate Blanchett.
Rush is one of the most underrated actors; committed, versatile, believable.

Blanchett is good too, but I'd watch her just to hear her voice: it's the sound that warmed chocolate would make in one of those fondue fountains if it was audible.

27. You guys have good taste.
I have to confess, though, that no matter how much I admire a particular actor, I won't see him/her in everything. Even Helen Mirren and Chris Cooper, great as they are, have been in questionable projects.

33. Bruce Campbell, William H. Macy, Jack Lemmon, John Turturro,
And useta be Gary Oldman. Jodie Foster can also get me to cough up cash with little other reason than her name.

I've just realized that excepting Oldman, all of the persons I've listed have double letters in their names. I wonder if this is actually about something else.

I follow directors more than stars. Gilliam actually made Brew Swillis fun to watch. Otherwise, I avoid Swillis films.

Also used ta be that I'd go to any Phillip K. Dick adapatation, but "Next" didn't look very good, and I missed "A Scanner Darkly".

38. ones I've actually met or written to, who've been nice to me
They're all unknowns, who need a bit of fan support out there! I'll even watch commercials or talent shows that they've been in. And I'm getting REALLY good at coming up with positive comments (as opposed to outright lies) about something I liked, in said performance. One of my co-workers even asks me what to tell her aspiring actor boyfriend, re: some of his B-movie stuff.
