1. I'm still up, my dear fishwax...
But not for long!

It's past midnight here...

I was just helping a poster with questions about how to post photos, and I want to see if s/he has any questions or comments!

I also want to see if anyone else posts in my poem/pic thread!

:hi:

Debating whether or not to go look for something
on TV. Sweetie has a pair of shoes that need repair,
and I can do that on the sofa while I listen to TV.

I gave up on TV, though ... this time of night it's all "paid programming" around here, so I'm watching old episodes of Cheers on DVD

Life could be better for me; my main concern right now is the health of my mom, which isn't so very good.

Hopefully, though, between me and my siblings and our spouses, we can help pull her through.

I hope the holiday season isn't totally crazy for you.

7. Hi fishwax!
I'm posting with one eye open. Drove to Oregon today (300 miles). Not that bad a trip, but I swear, I've driven it so many times over the past 25 years, it's mind numbing.

24. Both eyes definitely open for the trip.
A few months ago, when I was driving back to Seattle from Oregon, I got so tired I started falling asleep behind the wheel.

So, in the interest of keeping myself and others alive, I pulled off the freeway at Woodburn, OR, and parked in the parking lot of a large store. Put the seat back, and gave myself a 20 minute power nap. I was so refreshed after that, I was fine the rest of the way home.

28. Good to hear :) In my worst "driving tired" experience
I saw Sasquatch. He was riding on roller-blades, and he passed me (which I didn't mind) and then he CUT ME OFF! (which ticked me off, naturally).

Fortunately I was in the middle of Wyoming, so there was nobody else around, but I was wide awake from there on out ;)

20. haha -- sleep aversion -- I can relate, especially on Saturday night
I've always dreaded falling asleep on Saturday night, because to sleep on Saturday night is to acknowledge that the weekend won't last forever :(

I no longer have a traditional Monday through Friday job, but sleep aversion on Saturday night remains an important factor in my life

21. I was shuffling off to bed...
I had just switched off the front porch light. As I passed the window in the hall, lightening lit up the sky. The house shook from the sound of rolling thunder.

I'm a sucker for a good light show and the sound of thunder always vibrates my soul!

So, I'm sitting at my office desk peering out the window, with the lights out, while watching the sky and checking the radar.

:hi:

42. First, came a howling wind that blew fallen, brittle leaves against the window.
Now we are getting pummeled with small pellets of ice mixed with rain. The lightening is arching across the sky and I can feel the thunder rumbling to my core.

Edited on Sun Nov-11-07 05:19 AM by Green Meanie
It lasted for a few minutes. I could hear it bouncing off of the window.

The radar is now showing a line of freezing rain along the Eastern edge of Indiana, yuck!

We get hail here quite often and had the roof replaced just last year because of a succession of major hail storms from April through the end of June 2006.

Edited to add: I'll take hail over twisters any day of the week!!!

I just figured out this weekend that I won't be getting to fort collins this christmas break :( Usually I meet my family there for Christmas, but it won't work out this year ... no horsetooth at night, no woodward-governor, no armadillo, etc. :( ... all the cheesy foco christmas traditions will have to wait for another year. :)

Say hey to the front range, for me, kagehime :)
