but I have . My interests have went to other areas because my life has changed and I have less and less time to post here.

I hate it when that happens... and it happens to me a lot when I visit Hawaii. My husband and I missed every single sunset, when we were there a week, once! lol

26. He is better now, no thanks to the VA.

Had to call 911 and had a fast trip to the hospital.

He was on blood thinner and it almost killed him.

He had five units of blood while in the hospital, and is very under weight now.

We have appointment with a private Dr. next week to check the damage that was done to my Father's heart.

He has his color back and is a little stronger.

I forgot the best part, the VA won't pay for his care because he has private insurance so he was kicked out of the hospital after 6 days.

I find that the lounge has become less engaging in some way that I can't put my finger on, and a formerly favorite forum (GD), has become Thunderdome. I don't know, maybe, as previous posters have stated, it was me who changed. :shrug:

Prices are going up, people are losing their jobs and their homes. Old wars never seem to end... yet there is talk of new wars, possibly, in the future...

...it gets overwhelming when/if we think of it all at once.

I've gotten to the point where I hardly ever watch the news on TV... or even C-SPAN. I never used to be like this... so ill-informed. It's embarrassing... but it's a form of self-preservation for me right now.

If more people in the lounge could just be themselves, instead of always trying to impress, in one manner or another, I believe the lounge experience would be much better for all. I think reminiscing endlessly on them is a little foolish--it certainly doesn't bring tombstoned posters back or work to change the "mood" of the Lounge. And of course the Lounge has "changed," though what exactly has "changed" is a little beyond me.

Of course, I'm not particularly invested in it. I used to be a lot more, and then I realized that this is a message board, and having a strong investment to a message board is pretty stupid, especially if you have no intent to actually meet up with any of your fellow members. I guess that's what my frustration with the Lounge is--so many people seem to take things so friggin' seriously. Maybe they've got more invested in it than I have, but I should think that backstabbing and flame wars with people would make you realize that sometimes having a strong investment in something is taxing rather than strengthening.

87. See, I'm one of those people who's probably more disposed to snark than compassion.

This is just because I'm naturally a detached, often impassive person--not something to be proud of, but not something to feel shame about, either. On fora such as those at DU, that impassivity/detachedness in me and in others is exacerbated simply because posters have no way of knowing the true meanings of what others say--the whole lack of physical communication thing again. I think it's easier to parse compassion from statements than it is malice; that is, most things that are compassionate are obviously so, while anything not overtly compassionate is often taken to be malicious, even if the intent was neutral.
