http://splc.org/report_detail.asp?id=703&edition=19In a separate yearbook controversy, students at Boulder High School in Colorado staged a "kiss-in" to protest their yearbook's decision not to publish a picture of two girls kissing.
Gay and lesbian students as well as supporters kissed each other outside a school building after an underground newspaper criticized the yearbook's decision not to publish the photograph.
School officials counter that the photo was not "banned," and that the student editors of the Odaroloc made the decision because they could not inform the girls' parents of the picture before the yearbook's deadline. Protesters countered that photos of heterosexual couples kissing were included without parental permission.
"This isn't a picture that was banned or stricken by the administration," Principal Chris King said. "They didn't want a parent to open the yearbook and find out for the first time that their daughter likes to kiss other girls."

I was at the "kiss-in", and it was an interesting event. The people who protested came up with a very original way to voice their disapproval it. The staff was within their rights not to publish is, but come on - two girls kissing in the yearbook is THIS big of an issue? Wow. Let them have the picture, for Chrissakes!
