I'm working on some songs for upcoming wedding gigs, and I'm trying to figure out what the hell the string arrangers for "Disco Inferno" and "Through The Years" were thinking. That's some seriously screwed-up writing there.

1. As to "Disco Inferno"...

...I think it takes a lot more coke to decide that a militant slogan from the L.A. riots of 1965 ("Burn, baby, burn!") is ideal as the chorus of a song to which white folks in white polyester could shake their groove thangs out on a lighted dance floor.

It's about as out-of-place as using "the people, united, will never be defeated" as musical backing for an ad for the newest shopping mall. :eyes:

2. Our keyboardist refers to the string intro of Disco Inferno as "the string dump"
He hates it. Of course, he has to play it, so he earns the right to hate it.

3. Acid I think. Now someone who would do an all Percy Granger concert,
that's a coke binge waiting to happen.

4. Most of the mixing engineers were.
It has been said that cocaine slightly deadens the HF region of the ear's response. This would explain a lot.
