More rescued KITTEN pictures (plus one of a cat on Valium)!
Those of you who have been playing along at home know that my wife and I rescued two kittens last week. We just had them spayed, and their lukemia/HIV tests were all negative. Now we're trying to find somebody to adopt them. My wife has named them Sarah (the diluted calico) and Hannah (the orange and white one), but I call them Lumpy 1 and Lumpy 2, respectively. The final picture is of our boy Paxton, who has litter box issues. His last anxiety medication didn't seem to make any difference, so he's on Valium now.

Lumpy 1, demonstrating an early shoe fetish:

1. ROFL!
I've never seen a cat on Valium! Sorry, I know it's not funny, but that pic just made my stomach hurt laughing so hard! ROFLMAO!

p.s., Have you tried having one litter box per cat? I know it's a pain, but we had to have three - count them - three... for our two cats!! lol

11. What darling critters!
I do a lot of feral cat work - feeding colonies, recovering after neutering, but I cannot take one in for any length of time - BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE 50 CATS!!!! I'd be like that weird cat lady down the street.

I would have so much trouble giving up those two lovely kittens. :-) Sign. Good for you for doing what you do and finding good home for them.

14. What part of the country are ya in?
I shouldn't even ask, because if you're anywhere near Oregon I'd be soooo tempted, even though we can't really take in any more kitties.

You could post a "Kittens Need Home" thread in your state's forum. It would be nice if someone would take both and keep them together.

Also you could post in the Pets forum on DU.

15. Valium can make cats into eating machines.
Seriously, they used to use it with cats at the local shelter to stimulate appetite. You may want to keep an eye on Paxton to make sure he doesn't balloon up while he's on it.

I have to ask, is his litter-box thing an issue because he isn't thrilled with the other cats? Has he always had issues or is it only a recent thing for him? I ask because I have seen cats absolutely REFUSE to use a litter-box that one of the other cats has used.

Before you dose him in perpetuity you might want to consider trying one of those self cleaning litter-boxes so that EACH time he goes in it is clean.

16. ROFL!
That looks like my cat when she came home from the vet, still drugged. She had just turned ten, and I thought she was looking much too skinny. We took her in for blood work, and to have her teeth cleaned and checked.

She came home with a completely clean bill of health. But they had put her under while they took care of her teeth. She chirped and hooted and hopped around all night. The next day she was exhausted and hung over. It was funny.

She is eleven now. I hope she is still around in another eleven years.
