Teens who allegedly burglarized custard shop may face more charges
Two Sheboygan teens arrested Thursday morning for allegedly burglarizing a west-side custard shop may also be charged with burglarizing a home hours before, according to the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested about 2:15 a.m. Thursday, shortly after triggering an alarm at Randall's Frozen Custard, said Capt. Dave Adams. He had collected a 5-gallon pail filled with popsicles, a garbage bag filled with pints of ice cream and a single-serving ice cream, Adams said.
A golf cart found parked outside Randall’s and items in the back seat of a car parked beside it appear to have been taken from a property a few blocks to the north, at 2620 N. 40th St., Adams said.
According to Adams:
The resident at that address, Lena Werner, reported Thursday morning that the golf cart, four guns, an X-box and a guitar were taken about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday. The golf cart was parked in a barn on the rear of the property, and the other items were in a barn remodeled for use as an office and entertainment area.
Sheriff’s deputies have not yet obtained a warrant to search the car, but saw guns matching Werner’s description in the rear of the car found outside Randall’s. A 16-year-old boy found hiding in the car will be referred for juvenile charges of party to the crime of burglary.
The 17-year-old, who had keys to the golf cart in his pocket, is expected to be charged in adult court with burglary, theft and criminal damage to property for the Randall’s break-in. Additional charges for both are expected if the stolen items are found in the car.
The 17-year-old was arrested trying to run away when police responded to a silent alarm at Randall’s, triggered when he threw a rock through a window.
