What are your favorite Moody Blues Songs
post a link if you like

nights in White Satin

http://youtube.com/watch?v=9muzyOd4Lh8

Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters Ive written,
Never meaning to send.

Beauty Id always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I cant say anymore.

cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.

Gazing at people,
Some hand in hand,
Just what Im going thru
They can understand.

Some try to tell me
Thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be
You will be in the end,

And I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.

Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters Ive written,
Never meaning to send.

Beauty Id always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I cant say anymore.

cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.

cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.

I love "One Step Into the Light" off the Octave album

One step into the light
One step away from night
It's the hardest step you're gonna take
The ship to take you there
Is waiting at the head
Of the stairs that lead up through your opening mind

Above the dark despair
Shines a light that we can share
Close your eyes and look up in between your brows
Then slowly breathing in
Feel the LIFE FORCE streaming in
Hold it there, then send it back to him

All the old things are returning
Cosmic circles ever turning
All the truth we've been yearning for
Life is our saviour, saviour, saviour, save your soul

The river of LIVING BREATH
Is flowing through the SUN
He was there before the earth began
The world will drag on you
Use his love to pull you through
Find the mission of YOUR LIFE and start to BE

All the old things are returning
Cosmic circles ever turning
All the truth we've been yearning for
Life is our saviour, saviour, saviour, save your soul

There's one thing I can do
Play my Mellotron for you
Try to blow away your city blues
Your dreams are not unfound
Get your feet back on the ground
The TRUTH will set us FREE, we cannot lose
We cannot love, we just have to CHOOSE

"It's Up to You" from A Question of Balance

When the breeze between us calls, love comes and lingers into our lives,
And the leaves begin to fall, you point your finger at me.

I love you-
I love you-

In the sadness of your smile love is an island way out to sea,
But it seems so long ago we have been ready trying to be free.

And it's up to you,
Why won't you say?
Make our lives turn out this way.
If they knew, that we have got nothing to lose,
No reason to hide from what's true.
In the world of me and you
All is forgotten when we're inside
And the words that pass us by,
I am not listening, all of it's lies.

And it's up to you,
Why won't you say?
Make our lives turn out this way.
If they knew, that we have got nothing to lose,
No reason to hide from what's true,
That we have got nothing to lose.

"Nervous" from Long Distance Voyager

Why I am so nervous
Please explain to me
Why I can't sleep
I close my eyes to shelter
In the dark I try to hide
If you leave me on my own
I'm worried I could lose my way

In my mind confusion
I see you everywhere
But we don't speak
I try so hard to touch you
But you're always out of reach
If you walked right by
Would I see in it your eye
Would you turn away

Seems to me
I've been a long time
On this road
Has there been a sign
Another way
And I've passed it by
I don't know what it is that drives me on
Gotta keep movin'
Gotta keep movin' on

Bring it on home
Let's bring it on home - your love
Bring it on home
Let's bring it on home your love
Bring it on home
Let's bring it on home your love
Down parallel lines
Don't question faith
Don't answer lies

Tell me why I'm nervous
Please explain to me
Why I can't sleep
Please explain to me
Why you're always out of reach
If the water ran dry
Would I see it in your eye
Would you walk away

It seems to me I've been a long time on this road
And I wonder why
Has there been a sign that points another way
And I've passed it by
I don't know what it is that drives me on
Gotta keep movin'
Gotta keep movin' on

Bring it on home
(straight lines before my eyes)
Let's bring it on home your love
Bring it on home
(straight lines before my eyes)
Let's bring it on home your love
Bring it on home
(straight lines before my eyes)
Let's bring it on home your love
Down parallel lines
Don't question faith

Don't answer lies
You know you gotta keep movin'
Bring it on home
(straight lines before my eyes)
Let's bring it on home your love
Bring it on home
(straight lines before my eyes)
Let's bring it on home your love

and "Talking Out of Turn" from Long Distance Voyager

When I took a little loving from you
Oh I, never thought about the hurting inside
But I took a little more than I should
Oh why, can't explain that I would ever
Let you slip through my fingers
Let you escape like yesterday
I would appreciate you knowing
I thought your love had come to stay

Talking out of turn
Shot to pieces
When will I learn
Talking out of turn
Shot to pieces
When will I learn

But I took a little more of you each day
When I didn't see that I was breaking you apart
With angry words of love I didn't mean
Oh why, can't believe that I would ever
Talk myself out of tomorrow
Talked like a fool to yesterday
And as the evening loses colour
Your love began to fade away

Talking out of turn
Shot to pieces
When will I learn
Talking out of turn
Shot to pieces
When will I learn

Talking out of turn
Talking out of turn

If I upset you
I didn't mean to hurt you
I didn't mean to make you cry
I don't need an alibi
To start me talking out of turn

When I took a little loving from you
Oh I, can't believe that I would ever
Let you slip through my fingers
Let you escape like yesterday
I would appreciate you knowing
I thought your love had come to stay

Talking out of turn
Shot to pieces
When will I learn
Talking out of turn
Shot to pieces
When will I learn

14. Story in your Eyes.
I've been thinking about our fortune
And I've decided that we're really not to blame
For the love that's deep inside us now
Is still the same

And the sounds we make together
Is the music to the story in your eyes
It's been shining down upon me now
I realize

Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day

But I'm frightened for your children
That the live that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain

Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day

But I'm frightened for the children
That the live that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain

When the final line is over
It's certain that the curtain's gonna fall
I can hide inside your sweet sweet love
For ever more

16. You and Me
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 06:57 PM by supernova
The almost perfect liberal song. :loveya: (can't find a video link though. :-(

There's a leafless tree in Asia
Under the sun there's a homeless man
There's a forest fire in the valley
Where the story all began

What will be our last thought?
Do you think it's coming soon?
Will it be a comfort
Or the pain of a burning wound?

All we are trying to say
Is we are all we've got
You and me just cannot fail
If we never, never stop

You're an ocean full of faces
And you know that we believe
We're just a wave that drifts around you
Singing all our hopes and dreams
We look around in wonder
At the work that has been done
By the visions of our father
Touched by his loving son

All we are trying to say
Is we are all we've got
You and me just cannot fail
If we never, never stop
All we are trying to say
Is we are all we've got
You and me just cannot fail
If we never, never stop
You and me just cannot fail
If we never, ever, never, ever stop...

Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 07:25 PM by Capn Sunshine
It was almost like it was code, and triggered some very spiritual revelations. I hope that doesn't sound too ponderous. We spent a lot of evenings talking around the fire with the Moodies playing.

32. Higher and Higher
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 07:08 PM by Perseid
"Higher And Higher"

Blasting, billowing, bursting forth
With the power of ten billion butterfly sneezes
Man with his flaming pyre
Has conquered the wayward breezes
Climbing to tranquility
Far above the cloud
Conceiving the heavens
Clear of misty shroud

Higher and higher
Now we've learned to play with fire
Go higher and higher and higher

Vast vision must improve our sight
Perhaps at last we'll see and end
To our own endless blight
And the beginning of the free
Climb to tranquility
Finding it's real worth
Conceiving the heavens
Flourishing on earth

Higher and higher
Now we've learned to play with fire
Go higher and higher and higher

also reminds me of a girl. An actual gypsy. Lord have mercy. The thing about the Moody Blues is they were so prevalent during a very "interesting " time (Late 60's- early 70's), and became like a soundtrack to our lives on the West Coast.

53. On the Threshold of a Dream and In Search of the Lost Chord - trip guide soundtracks
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 11:24 PM by Bongo Prophet
There were hardly better choices of music to guide a neophyte through inner voyages.
I played these for many safe (non-threatening) sessions, because it is both emotional and "spiritual" with a bit of intellect and even whimsy.

With the Moody Blues, it was always about "the ALBUM as Journey" - seriously, how often would one play a MB 45?
The whole was more than the parts =synergy, and indeed a type of alchemy.

Mix in Eno, Tangerine Dream, mid-period Floyd (ummagumma to DSOTHM, no later! ;)) for the more seasoned voyagers, and you have happy campers that will feel really good about their experience.

Thinking is the Best way to travel!!!

(edit to say, this was back in the days of vinyl = late 70's)
I am olde.

56. Question
The Moody Blues (written by Justin Hayward)

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?
'Cos when we stop and look around us,
There is nothing that we need,
In a world of persecution
That is burning in its greed.

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the war of love is for

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me
It's more the way that you mean it
When you tell me what will be

And when you stop and think about it
You won't believe it's true
That all the love you've been giving
Has all been meant for you.

I'm looking for someone to change my life,
I'm looking for a miracle in my life
And if you could see what it's done to me,
To lose the love I knew
Could safely lead me through.

Between the silence of the mountains,
And the crashing of the sea,
There lies a land I once lived in,
And she's waiting there for me,
But in the grey of the morning,
My mind becomes confused,
Between the dead and the sleeping,
And the road that I must choose.

I'm looking for someone to change my life,
I'm looking for a miracle in my life
And if you could see what it's done to me,
To lose the love I knew,
Could safely lead me to
The land that I once knew,
To learn as we grow old
The secrets of our soul.

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me
It's more the way you really mean it
When you tell me what will be

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?
'Cos when we stop and look around us,
There is nothing that we need,
In a world of persecution
That is burning in its greed.

59. Singer in a Rock n' Roll Band
Too much radio play over the years killed Nights in White Satin for me.
