Nice smells that you like.
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 06:27 PM by texas1928
Things that remind you of a wonderful time, or bring back a good memory. Like certain cookies as they bake, or certain smell reminds you of a girlfriend and how her hair smelled.

I love the smell of cinnamon and apples. And the smell of sugar cookies baking in the oven. I love the smell of a good campfire. Coffee brewing in the morning.

63. Am I the only psycho who loves the smell of freshly mown grass?
I love all sorts of smells--snow, the ocean, certain flowers, ginger/molasses, pine trees, fruits, camp fires/fires in fireplaces, new books, one of my mom's perfumes, baby powder, Drakkar Noir, cinnamon, sugar, freshly shampooed hair, and so many more. I also love some weirder smells, as I used to be a fan of a mild dose of gasoline smell and, of course, I frigging love freshly mown grass.

67. Elderflowers
Last summer there was a beautiful hot day and I was walking home past a large elderflower bush, I just had to pick a load to make into elderflower cordial.

Incense - particular old incense, walking into a church on Monday morning and there's still that slight hint left over from the day before.

Freshly ground coffee - though only really has the effect first thing in the morning.

70. Paper mills
Yes, you heard it--paper mills. I'm being totally serious here.

Why do I like the smell of paper mills?

Well, on family vacations when my family would drive down from Maryland to Florida, we'd take I-95 down, quite a long drive. But come Georgia, just about south of Savannah, there would be a string of paper mills off the highway. And it always triggered a sense that we were close to Florida. Going to Florida for summer vacation was always the highlight of the year for me.

So the smell of paper mills is one of those smells that is highly offensive to one if there's no context to it, but if it's connected to a memory, you like it.

(Of course, thinking about it now the exhaust from the paper mills probably wasn't doing that great for the environment. But that aside, it still brings back good memories.)

141. The crazy thing is, here in the South honeysuckle grows wild
and a lot of people consider it a nuisance (depending on where it's growing) but when I was living in Idaho it was sold at places like Home Depot for use as an ornamental plant!

Still love how it smells, though. :)

73. Opening a brand-new box of fireworks
The combination of paper and gunpowder reminds me of 4th of Julys of my youth.

Also gardenias, jasmine, stephanotis, tuberose - all very similar with gardenias the best

The women's cologne "Opium" (not the men's version)

Fabric softener and laundromats

The bar soap "Irish spring" always brings me back to my college days, and my roommates running around after their shower wearing nothing but their towels.

76. My mother's spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove
She would start it late at night and the smell would waft through the house while we were sleeping. We'd wake up to that wonderful, rich aroma and be excited because we knew we'd have spaghetti for dinner that night.

The smell of freshly cut grass; a sign of spring, I guess. And the indescribable smell of Great Lakes air; when we'd get out of the car at our friends' cottage on Lake Huron the air smelled so alive and exciting. I love it.
