What do you think of the Sarah Silverman Show this season?

She is really pushing the envelope in every episode, from licking her dog's butt, to having her mothers bones stolen, to taking god as her date to her high school reunion.

It works for me.

1. I like good satire, but she tries to hard and is not funny

2. she had at least one joke last night I'm still laughing at today. God was smoking pot with her

gaybors, and showing off his power by floating the TV remote and spinning it in midair.

Then he lost control of it, it shot through the wall and killed the guy in the next apartment.

When the cops show up they say, "Suicide with a TV remote. We see that a lot more often than you'd think.''

3. She's a brilliant comedy theoretician, at times quite funny.

Not many comedians are doing what she's doing.

Brilliant, and sometimes fall on the floor funny.

I think she is to comedy what Meredith Monk and John Coltrane and John Cage are to music, or Richard Schechner is to the performing arts or Merce Cunningham and Mark Morris to dance.

She created a clueless not-quite-an-idiot who manages to go through her entire life "not getting it." Really not getting it.

Not so easy to pull off as the main character for a half hour, but she's got guts to try. And more often than not she's funny. Sometimes hysterical. I think a lot of people are turned off because it's so dry-- few real yucks or punchlines like you expect in standard comedy. This situational stuff actually takes some work on the part of the audience.

Curiously, many of the people who hate her the loudest won't tell us who they think IS funny.

21. I have a confession-I changed my mind about her recently.

I saw her last season, and I thought 'well, here's someone doing something different, but not really pulling it off. Just crude to be crude.' There were some promising kernels, but, eh. This season, I don't know what's different, maybe new writers, but I think this show is god damn brilliant. It is very disturbing, you kind of have to brace yourself. But she has created this little universe of an almost psychedelic weirdness. I mean, "Cookie Party, Cookie Party, Cookie Party!"? What the hell IS that? Just funny, somehow.

The blackface episode was stunning. When she raised herself off the bed looking like Hitler, man. The abortion episode, ditto. It usually takes a season or two before a show finds it's groove. Seinfeld sucked the first season, the Simpsons sucked for at least the first three.

There are still parts of the show that turn me off, but I'll tune in cause it's very creative now. And I hate everything else on Comedy Central, except Colbert/Stewart.
