Improvised Halloween Treats - Things You Could or Have Given in a Pinch

Living in an apartment building in the city, I've only had but one solitary trick-or-treater knock at my door over the last five years. Luckily on that occasion, not having any candy on-hand, I had a few stamps in my wallet and told the little scamp they were temporary tattoos, and seeming at least adequately satisfied, scuttled off without complaint.

So, fellow non-home owners, what else makes good improvised trick-or-treat fodder?

1. The contents of a roach motel, the mushrooms that are growing in the corners of the shower, and

and an assortment of particles (some edible some not) that can be harvested from the interior of my oven.

2. toss a condom in the bag, it would freak out the parents when they get home and do bag check

3. microwave popcorn, mini cereal boxes, Pokemon cards,

and the old standby - fresh fruit.

4. Then there was this one dumb kid who came to my parents' house

when I lived at home who wore this lame ghost costume every year, and every year we'd get a laugh out of giving him a rock.

you know kids today.....just drop a few rounds of 9mm in, they can always use more

6. Fritos lunch size bags

First time in a new neighborhood we ran out of candy but had just been to the grocery store to get lunch stuff

7. those little soy sauce packets

from chinese takeout work in a pinch. So do the little packs of parmesan cheese and red peppers from the pizza place.

Or shots of Jaeger.

will be the next thing I drop in the bag of my next Halloween beggar, me thinks
