Poll question: Your favorite rockabilly rocker
For the sake of this particular poll, we'll consider only the rockabilly phases of a performer's career: i.e., Elvis at Sun, but not later Elvis; same with Roy Orbison, etc.

Hard to pick against early Jerry Lee and Gene Vincent, but my vote goes to Setzer. Love The Stray Cats!!

33. Well I am young enough that Brian Setzer made me feel it when it mattered!
And too old apparently to know who some of these other people are :D

And...old enough to not care!

10. Holly is the greatest songwriter, Cochran an incredible guitar player,
they are all interesting artists .. why compare?

Train kept a rollin' all night long with Rocky Burnette, long before the Yardbirds and Arrowsmith covered the song.

Carl Perkin had blue suede shoes first.

How about favorite faux rockabilly artists? I really like Brian Setzer.

14. No one's mentioned Billy Lee Riley, so thought I would--Sonny Burgess too
but Elvis on Sun was THE MAN...........Made my first, and hopefully not last, pilgrimage to Sun a couple of years ago. If any rockabilly fans here haven't done that yet, standing in the same room where Elvis, Bill and Scotty broke into That's All Right Mama was a moment I'll never forget, and like I said, plan to do again...

27. Johnny Burnette actually coined the phrase
His kid was named Rocky, his brother Dorsey's kid was named Billy , at least , that's the apocryphal version Dorsey once told me.

31. There's good rocking in some Rickie Nelson sides.
Specifically his stuff with James Burton although he later did a great version of Mystery Train. Don't forget the influences: Roy Brown, Wynonie Harris, Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
