Perspective. Nothing is forever. The older I get (I'm 56), the more I realize that the people I have not liked or have found to be morons have faded from my life. I am sure that I will have more enter it, but they will not ever take control of my emotions the way they did in the past.

They are always popping in and out, but they are aberrations, compared to family and good friends. I only regret wasting so much time worrying about them. And the funny thing is, karma. The worst boss I ever had - the only really nasty one in over 30 years - got canned and embarrassingly so. Nasty moronic person, and surprise - I wasn't the only one who felt that way, and others couldn't wait to throw her off the bus.

Anyway, without presuming to fully understand your situation, I attempted a little humor (and that was indeed a little humor).

35. We Just Had The Most Obnoxious And Idiotic

guy in the world on our project. In meetings, we all just ended up letting him speak but tuning him out (great time to read your email, catch up on reading material or improve your doodles). When one of us realized he was finished, we would just say okay, and move on to the next item or person. When he sent a ridiculous email, we just replied "thank you", even when that response made no sense. I don't think the guy ever realized that he was being totally ignored. Thank God, he is now off the project.

I was stuck in between two lines to get checked out. I was 2/3rds into my line and a third into the other line. It was cramped, so I just hung out. This guy, wearing his city bus driver uniform comes up to me and goes 'EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!!!!!" I said excuse ME!!!!!! and shifted my cart over and cramped the people I was giving respectable space to. It really pissed me off. What really pissed me off is this guy, a bus driver, able bodied, had a handicapped permit so he could park in the handicapped zone.

once I determine they truly are hopeless morons (or worse, morans) through attempting to communicate rationally with them, I tend to either ridicule them or ignore them completely.

If neither of those is an option, then just grit your teeth and make each moment with them as short as possible. Sing a song in your head. Frustrate them so they leave.

My favorite is to try to come up with insults which are subtle enough that they don't realize they are being made fun of - turns a stressful person into pure comedy gold.
