There seems to be a misunderstanding about something I said yesterday...

and I would like to clear that up. Mods, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, but if I posted it in the religion forum, not as many people would read it, and I would like as many DU'ers as possible to see this so I can explain to them what I meant.

I never meant to imply that believing in God was a delusion. I only meant that if I, personally, were to tell myself that I believed in God or an afterlife, I would be deluding myself, because I honestly believe that there are no such things. By the same logic, if you honestly believe in an afterlife, you would be deluding yourself if you told yourself that you were an atheist. We each believe what we believe, and if we told ourselves otherwise, we would be lying.

I don't think that anyone's spirituality makes them stupid or deluded or anything. Really.

I didn't choose to believe that death is the end of all awareness, it's just my perception of reality. If I had a choice in the matter I would pick something less scary to believe.

I probably could have made that clearer yesterday, but I haven't really been thinking very clearly lately.
