Anyone else see Criss Angel and that psychic throw down on PHENOMENON tonight?
This psychic, whose name I do not recall, put on a demonstration of automatic writing, claiming to channel a mentor of his from beyond the grave. Criss Angel, one of the judges, offered the man a cool million bucks of his own money if the psychic could guess the contents of an envelope Angel was holding up. The psychic went off, calling Angel an "ideologue," and the censor had to hold down the profanity button for about five seconds as Angel and the psychic sparred with each other.

Now that is what I call awesome television!! :applause:

2. It was on NBC tonight
It was also "live," meaning that there was the post-Janet three-second delay or so, but for all practical purposes the argument was happening right before our eyes.

3. Why didn't they use their super powers instead of cursing?
I agreed with CA about that guy's performance being comical. I think he called CA an idealogical bigot before the sound vanished. :o

4. Every one of those fuckin' charlatans should get a pickaxe through the forehead.

That should be next year's reality TV fad - painful executions of astrologers, psychics, and other criminals who prey on really fucking dumb people.

And then the following year, the reality fad should be painful executions of really fucking dumb people.

They gotta sink the pickaxe in three tries or they don't get to come back next week.

10. Yeah, we did. Totally staged.
If they're lucky, "Entertainment Tonight" will talk about it tomorrow night.

13. This seems like as good a place as any to ask. Who the hell is Criss Angel?
And why does he spell his name so stupidly?

15. Big-name street magician and escape artist
He's sort of dethroned David Blaine as the most popular magician in America, although I know that assertion will be challenged strenuously by some folks.

He levitated on top of the Luxor pyramid in Vegas for all to see, completely illuminated. He was keelhauled off the coast of Mexico while wriggling out of a straightjacket. He sank four large hooks into his back and let a helicopter lift him by the hooks and take him on a scenic tour of the mountains and canyons below. This man has a tendency to get around.

18. he does do some pretty good magic
I first heard of him about 5 years ago, on a TV special showcasing young magicians. He did the classic "metamophosis" trick faster than anyone previously. Instead of lifting a sheet to switch places, he did it during a flash of light. Impressive.

17. Kind of off the subject, but did anybody else see the "Saved By The Bell" principal in the audience?
I'd swear he was right up front, and the camera went right by him in close-up. If it wasn't him, he could make big bucks as an impersonator of him.

Wait, no he couldn't. But it sure looked like him.
