Yes Mom, I'm fine....
she just called after hearing about the earthquake.

"Are you ok?" Yes, I'm fine... it was a good shaker but no damage.

"Is the dog OK?" Yes, Mom... he's fine. He slept through it.

"Is the tortoise all right? Did you go check on him?" Yes Mom, he's fine.

"You have homeowners insurance, right?" yes Mom. But earthquakes aren't covered.

"Are the cats all right?" Yes Mom. It wasn't that big a deal.

"You sure you're all right?" sigh....

3. Sounds like my mother if I don't call her every 3 days
I've had messages where she swears she's calling emergency services assuming that I'm actually dead and not able to return her phone calls

5. Once a Mom,
always a Mom. My mother, to her dying day (her 82, me 50) would ask if I'd thanked someone for whatever reason, would freak if I drove in the snow to go visit her (Colorado to Illinois), you name it, she worried about it if her kids could possibly be affected, and oft-times, even when we couldn't. Moms can be such a pain, yes we can; but you miss us when we are gone
