1. It was a surgical strike.
The perp knew what he wanted, where it was, and he obviously had the caper timed to the second. In and out, bada boom.

If he's not immediately caught he'll surely do it again. I hope the cops are on top of this one. He's dangerous.

3. Well timed
He reminds me of Bill Murray stealing the bags of money from the armored truck in Groundhog Day.

2. I read that he does it all the time. People who come to the convenience shop think
it's so funny that they pay for the chips he steals. And he always steals the same flavor (nacho cheese) and shares it with the other birds. Isn't that a scream?

4. So he considers himself a "Robin" Hood
We had magpies who would steal dogfood from the garage. One bird would sneak inside and take the dry food one chunk at a time, carry it over to the garage door and shove it underneath. His accomplice would would take them one at a time and fly them up into a tree.

They were organized.

5. A bird's gotta do what a bird's gotta do.

6. We could watch them for hours
but we really didn't like magpies hanging around the farm or at least around the farmhouse. They tended to run off the cool birds, like robins and jays and sparrows. But I have to give it up to them for their brains.

I don't think my father ever shot one and it wasn't for lack of trying. What eventually made them relocate was constructing birdhouses for the cool birds. They might not be as bright as a magpie but when it's twenty against one or two, well like I said, magpies (relatives of crows) are smart and wary.
