Do you think the guys who pick up the recycling like their jobs better than the regular trash guys?
And maybe cheer on various neighborhoods, like they know which ones do well with recycling and which ones are lazy? :)

I don't know why, I wonder about these things.

3. the trash and recycling trucks here only have one person on them
and robotic arms that pick up the bins and empty them. Our recycling gets picked up every other week and the bin is 96 gallons, we recycle a lot because the county makes it convenient for us, we'd recycle even if if weren't but still having that large bin makes life easier.

8. Our trash is with the remote controlled arms,
but our recycling for some reason is on different trucks where you have to wheel the bin to the back.

Come to think of it, the recycling guys here probably are hoping for an upgrade to the trash truck so they can sit and drive as opposed to walking and getting the wheelie bin. Haha.

4. I think there are probably a few of both who envy the others.

Picking up recycling is most likely to be much less messy,
but it doesn't provide the same opportunity to find & salvage
valuable stuff.

Back when I was doing Day-labor, the city used to rent guys
from that outfit to work the garbage/recyc routes. ALL the
"city regulars" used to hope they got a garbage route, because
they had all found stuff at some time or another that was worth
more than they were getting paid for the day.

The guy who found a broken laptop only got $40 for it, but that's
not bad considering he got $32.50 for the 7 hours of slinging garbage, y'know?

6. It's probably a lot cleaner.
We used to recycle, but our city discontinued it. I guess they thought it was too expensive. Go figure....
